iPhone 6 Beats Galaxy Note 4 Where it Counts

Published

on

Apple announced that it sold more than 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units in the first three days of going on sale. That’s the most iPhones Apple ever sold in the first three days following a new model’s release and something that should make Samsung jealous. Apple sold more than $7 billion worth of iPhones in the first three days of shipping its latest products.

While the Korean phone manufacturer sells Android phones by the millions, we simply don’t see the masses buying the Note 4 and other devices in the same volume when they launch.   Android fans have been bashing the iPhone 6 for mimicking Android phone display sizes and bringing NFC to iOS years after the competition. But Apple would much rather have a blockbuster opening than rushing to be first for the sake of being first.

The iPhone 6 is competitive with the Samsung Galaxy S5 in terms of screen size, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a screen size that’s similar to the Galaxy Note 4.   It took Samsung 60 days to sell 10 million Galaxy Note 3 units last year. It is highly unlikely that the Note 4 will sell anywhere close to 10 million units within three days. The Galaxy S5 debuted earlier this year and it took 27 days for Samsung to sell 10 million units worldwide.

iPhone 6 Plus

Apple sold the 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom.  Apple did not separate iPhone and iPhone 6 Plus numbers in its press release about the sales figures today, but its safe to say that the company will sell at least an additional 10 million between today and its secondary release date of September 26th, which is when the new phones will be available in  20 more countries. The iPhone 6 has not gone on sale in China yet because Apple needs to jump through one more regulatory hoop. Demand for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus is fierce, with new iPhones being sold outside of Apple stores for several times their retail prices.

According to Apple, the company could have sold well over 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units over the first three days, but they simply didn’t have enough in stock.

“Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”

sure, as a sales wise, Apple might outsells samsung, with its impressive preorder, number of first week sold, etc.
but u really gotta give credit to samsung, because note 4 is truly a thing of beauty.
it beats iphone 6 plus in most properties when compared :

it really comes down to this.
For those anxious to have a larger smartphone with Apple’s IOS, the iPhone 6 Plus is the right choice. For those seeking the BEST phablet on the market, Samsung’s Galaxy is the ONLY choice. (well, for now.)

This doesn’t compare the phone sales equally. Apple released two phones at the same time and didn’t differentiate the two in terms of numbers of sales for each product. If the Note 3 and S5 were released at the same time, hypothetically they would have sold 20 million units within 60 days. It is yet to be seen if the Iphone 6 and 6 plus will sell the same in 60 days, and if so, it won’t be by as much of a blowout as this article will lead you to believe.

Weird comparison. There are only two new Apple phones on the market right now, while there are many phone choices using the Android system. To compare a little closer apples to…well apples…it would need to be all the high-end Android phones released (by Samsung, LG, Nexus, and Motorola) to the i6 and and the larger form factor Android phones to the i6Plus. Samsung might WANT to capture the same market share as Apple, but it’s unlikely to do so, since some users of high-end Android phones will prefer the L3, M8, the Nexus 5/6 or the Moto X to the Galaxy S5 for example and it dilutes Samsung’s market penetration. Brand loyalty in Android isn’t the same as Apple’s brand loyalty. I can be loyal to Android with any high-end phone, while if I were loyal to Apple, the i6/plus are the only games in town.

Samsung Note 4 hasn’t hit the streets yet but that’s not stopping hungry consumers

User above already made the comment that I intended to. I’m not sure it makes any sense to compare Apple to Samsung in this way. I pre-ordered a Note 4, but if HTC or someone else had a better android option, I would have had no reservation in buying that instead. It is android first and foremost that is my preference. However, if iOS is your thing, then you only have Apple. I would expect Apple sales volume to be higher because of that. On the other hand, Samsung strategically did not approach the Note 4 release correctly. Apple announces the iPhone 6 and they hit the shelves quickly after. This is optimal because you stir up excitement and then put people on a position to act on it. Meanwhile, Samsung announces the Note 4, and I will not get my pre-order until mid October. Expecting that type of patience from the masses is folly. Instant gratification types not already committed to iOS or Android will opt for the IPhone Plus.

What Apple does best is marketing. A lot of people don’t even know what the note is.

So the iPhone 6 beats the Note 4 where it counts? In sales? How’s that supposed to be beneficial to the consumers? I don’t get i…

As usual these numbers are big but comparing them to a single Samsung phone is just ridiculous. For this to be even close to being a fair comparison first of all take away every single Samsung phone they sell except for the S5 and the Note 4. And then release those 2 phones once a year and at the exact same time. I’m sorry but Samsung would destroy apples numbers. It would be more like 30 million the first weekend and 50 million of by the first week. Remember Samsung sells low end phones, mid range phones and then the flagships. So if those 2 flagships were the only phones they sold period we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Samsung sells way more phones than apple hands down they just do it very differently and space it out all through the year.
