iPhone 6 iOS 9.0.1 Update: 10 Important Details

Published

on

On Wednesday, Apple rolled out a brand new iOS 9 update dubbed iOS 9.0.1. The update is small but important. With that in mind, we want to take a look at everything you need to know about the iPhone 6 iOS 9.0.1 release.

In the past three weeks, Apple’s rolled out three iOS 9 updates. On September 11th, the company rolled out the first iOS 9.1 beta for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update doesn’t have a release date but there’s a good chance that it, and its new emojis, will be out before the end of the year.

On September 16th, Apple rolled out the iOS 9.0 upgrade, the first iOS 9 update and a massive release for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 9.0 brought a ton of new features, enhancements and problems along with it.

To address these initial iOS 9 problems, Apple’s rolled out a brand new update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. That update? iOS 9.0.1.

Earlier this week, Apple rolled out iOS 9.0.1 to all devices capable of running iOS 9. That list includes the iPhone 6, Apple’s former flagship that was recently replaced by the iPhone 6s.

The iPhone 6 iOS 9.0.1 update is small, about 20MB in size, but it packs a punch. The update comes with several key bug fixes including one for busted alarms and timers. It’s an update that iPhone 6 users should be paying attention to.

In the two days since its arrival, we’ve seen several new details emerge and today we want to take a look at everything iPhone 6 users need to know about this brand new iOS 9 update. Keep all of this in mind as we push away from the update’s release date.

We've been using the iOS 9.0.1 update on several versions of the iPhone 6 and so far, we haven't run into any major problems.

Battery life is holding up well, connectivity is strong, and the device is still really fast with the new update on board. App performance is still pretty good though we continue to see Chrome crash with great frequency. It's a bit odd and we're hoping for an update soon.

If you're looking for more in depth feedback, take a look at our initial impressions. You might also want to dig around on YouTube, social media, or the Apple Discussion Forums for feedback about the iPhone 6 iOS 9.0.1 update's performance.

the 9.0.1 update has rendered my i phone 6 unless in cellular mode. I can’t open any apps that weren’t selected as cellular prior to installation of 9.0.1.

This means I can’t access Facebook, all airline apps, new apps – anything that I use regularly while on the go.

If not fixed in a few days, I’ll have to go to another device manufacturer.

This is really bad for Apple.

Since downloading iOS 9.0.1 my iPhone and iPad have become very slow. I have also been unable to open my Mail in both devices. Please fix this before you lose me as a fan

Since the update when I try to reply to a message, I can’t see what I am saying until I hit send and sometimes what I said isn’t right. It has some sort of timer in the message block.

Same problem..does anyone have a fix for this other than starting a new message each time you just want to reply?

I have same problem of the grey bar in the reply window on my iPhone 6, only started 2 days ago. Running iOS 9.0.2 . To reply to I have to start a new message (which then picks up the old message received thread) . Is there a fix?

Whenever I use the “speak” button for texts, it closes out my text screen completely.
No longer does the swipe down work that enables the speak to work, I use this feature to read wen pages out load . Last night, after changing a setting that requires a restart of my phone, my s teen stayed black. Phone was on, but screen stayed black. I called my phone, which rang, but could not see anything but black. So disappointed, would rather roll back to 8 thank to trust the 9.01 release, which has cause another set of problems on friends phones who did the update.

I’m getting no audio-message alerts at all including phone rings. The alerts are there as soon as I unlock the screen but I don’t hear anything when I get messages or texts or even phone calls.

Every time I send my husband a text it also sends it to myself. How do I stop this? The new update is very annoying. I had to update for my Fitbit but now nothing is working.

I can’t open a date in the calendar since loading the update. I can open “Today” and then swipe forwards and backwards one day at a time to reach the day I want. Had to set an appointment for two months from now, so THAT was fun…NOT. This update also totally broke bluetooth functionality on a few card games my wife and I like to play against each other on our phones. We had a workaround that worked sometimes for about a year, then it was finally fixed again, now it’s broken with no workaround. Actually, my wife isn’t on 9.0.1 yet, so it’s POSSIBLE that would work again if she took the latest update, but I’ve had so many problems with the latest that I don’t want her to take it.

Since I updated my phone it has froze on me twice. One time it just turns off and it didn’t come back on. Battery was fully charged so it wasn’t the battery. Only way for me to get it to work again was to reset it. Horrible.

Wish I would have checked here first. I Would have NEVER downloaded 9.0.1. Freaking annoying. I got stupid and creepy apps that I don’t want. Find Friends? Really? I know who my friends are and don’t need an app to find them. Stocks? Who in the 99% has stocks that they can check on daily? IBooks? Huh? I don’t use my phone as a reading device! Ever! Health? Why is that on there and I can’t get it off! Podcasts? NO! Tip? From Apple? Never!
