iPhone 6 Pre-Order Details for AT&T, Sprint & Verizon

With the iPhone 6 release date nearing AT&T, Sprint and Verizon are now sharing more iPhone 6 pre-order details — including what time the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders start.

Apple already confirmed the iPhone 6 pre-order date for September 12th, but they did not share when you can pre-order the phone on that date. As we expected the iPhone 6 pre-orders start at 12:01 AM Pacific on September 12th, much like midnight release events for video games.

We don’t expect any midnight iPhone 6 release events at carriers or Apple Stores, so this is the only night you’ll need to get up early on the East coast or stay up late on the West coast.

This morning Verizon, AT&T and Sprint confirmed the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 pre-order times on their websites. The time does not change based on your location, so you’ll need to be ready for when the clock ticks over to midnight in California. Here’s a short rundown of when the iPhone 6 pre-order start at these carriers.

  • 12:01 AM Pacific
  • 1:01 AM Mountain
  • 2:01 AM Central
  • 3:01 AM Eastern

Although the Apple Store still lists the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 pre-orders as coming soon they should match these times. There is no T-Mobile iPhone 6 pre-order or iPhone 6 Plus Pre-order time listed right now.

If you want to make sure you get a new iPhone on the iPhone 6 release date the following week you will want to set your alarm and wake up early. The new iPhone models typically sell out for release date delivery by early morning on the East coast. If you miss out on the early pre-order options you may need to wait in an iPhone 6 line to get one on release day.

iPhone-6-size

One big problem with waiting up for the iPhone 6 pre-orders to start is that carrier websites and even the Apple Store may crash briefly during the first few minutes of sales. This happens when millions of users attempt to buy a new iPhone at the same time.

Last year Apple sold nine million new iPhones in the first weekend of sales, and many users could not buy the size and color they wanted for several weeks. Unless Apple was able to dramatically boost the production of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, we could see some shortages during the opening weekend and the first several weeks after the iPhone 6 release date.

All of these options will require you to choose delivery to your home or office. Thankfully this means you will get iPhone 6 release date delivery if you order early enough, but there is not an in-store pickup option for carrier orders.

Verizon offers in-store pickup as an option for some phones, but states that the company, “will make each device eligible for In-Store Pickup once there are sufficient quantities available for regular store walk-in and In-Store Pickup customers.”

Apple does offer an iPhone 6 pre-order with in-store pickup that should allow you to walk in on the iPhone 6 release date without waiting in a line all morning, but the details are still sparse.

Apple announced two new iPhone 6 models this week with larger screens, better cameras and a new design. The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch display and the iPhone 6 Plus includes a 5.5-inch display and optical image stabilization for the camera.

The iPhone 6 release date is September 19th on Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. We’re waiting on confirmation of the T-Mobile iPhone 6 pre-order start time, but don’t expect any different from the other carriers.
