iPhone 6c Release Date Could Arrive Later Than Expected

The iPhone 6c is rumored to be the iPhone 6s‘s smaller brother, but it may not arrive at the same time as the iPhone 6s.

The iPhone 6c release date is something that isn’t in stone just yet, but we’ve been hearing plenty of rumors about the alleged device as we get closer and closer to the iPhone event that’s rumored for next month.

The iPhone 6c will just like the iPhone 5c in that it will be a step down from the iPhone 6s as far as performance and features are concerned, which shouldn’t be too surprising at this point. It’s also said that the iPhone 6c will sport the same screen size as the iPhone 5c, coming with a 4-inch display, meaning that it won’t receive the same screen upgrade like the iPhone 6 did last year.

It’s a bit odd that Apple would stick with a 4-inch display on a 2015 iPhone, even if it is a budget device, but it’s possible that Apple thinks there’s still a market for a smaller-sized smartphone, which makes sense considering that the company was one of the last smartphone manufacturers to get rid of smaller screens on the iPhone.

In any case, the iPhone 6c is rumored to come, but the iPhone 6c release date might not arrive at the same time as the iPhone 6s. In fact, it’s rumored that the lower-tier iPhone may not be arriving until November.

According to China Times, the iPhone 6c won’t arrive until November, merely because Foxconn has only recently begun mass production for the new device, whereas the iPhone 6s has been in manufacturing mode for a little while already.

It’s still likely that Apple will announce the iPhone 6c in September, but simply won’t release the device until November, which isn’t out of the ordinary, as Apple has done this with several products in the past, including the iPad mini 2 release.

A leaked photo from earlier this year suggests that the iPhone 6c will look a lot like the iPhone 5c, with the same kind of polycarbonate outer shell that will also come in different colors. Furthermore, the iPhone 6c will likely come with Apple’s A8 processor, while the iPhone 6s will receive the newer A9 processor. The A8 is the same processor that’s in the iPhone 6.

Of course, we’re taking things with a grain of salt for now. iPhone 6c rumors have been up and down for quite a while, and many analysts and experts disagree as far as when and if the iPhone 6c will even see the light of day, so it’s certainly a device that we may or may not see at this point.

The iPhone 5c was Apple’s first dip into the budget iPhone arena, launching the device back in 2013 alongside the iPhone 5s, and it merely served as the replacement for the iPhone 5, since it didn’t come with a huge upgrade over the iPhone 5, save for a slightly better camera, a new polycarbonate outer shell, and a lower price tag in order to entice frugal customers.

However, the iPhone 5c didn’t sell quite as well as the flagship iPhone 5s, but it was at least a cheaper alternative that consumers could turn to if they wanted. It was the perfect device for users who wanted an iPhone experience, but didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money up front.

The iPhone 6c was rumored to release last year alongside the iPhone 6, but that ended up being MIA. In any case, it makes sense for Apple to release the iPhone 6c this year anyway, and it’ll be another choice that Apple will tack on next to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
