A new iPhone 8 concept showcases the rumored design of Apple’s 2017 iPhone.

As we push away from the iPhone 7 release date we’re starting to see designers release iPhone 8 concepts. Some of these concepts imagine futuristic features, others are more grounded and are based on real iPhone 8 rumors.

This iPhone 8 concept falls into the latter group and shows off the design that’s been mentioned in recent iPhone 8 rumors.

This new iPhone 8 concept, from Imran Taylor and discovered by 9to5Mac, shows us what an iPhone 8 with an iPhone 4-style design could look like.

The concept here features a flat design that borrows the iPhone 4’s glass back. Apple is reportedly testing a new iPhone with a glass back which would represent a big change from the aluminum back the company used in the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 7 designs.

Taylor’s iPhone 8 concept isn’t based on any leaked schematics but rumors have continually pointed to a significant design change.

Design rumors have also pointed to a design with thinner or non-existent bezels and an IP68 rating for improved water resistance and dust.

In addition to the glass back, this new iPhone 8 concept features a vertical dual-camera setup, a change that’s also popped up in recent iPhone 8 rumors.

Apple’s rumored to have a new iPhone color up its sleeve (red) for the iPhone 8 but this concept is based on the current options which include gold, rose gold, and silver.

iPhone 8 redesign rumors are just a piece of the puzzle. Rumors have also pointed to some other potential changes, many of which aren’t included with this vision of the iPhone 8.

Leaks point to the use of a flexible OLED display with new 3D Touchan A11 processor, and in-house wireless charging technology.

We expect iPhone 8 rumors to continue in early 2017 though we don’t expect them to start firming up until we get closer to the iPhone 8 release date.

The iPhone 8 release is expected this fall, months after the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6, two flagship Android devices and two key competitors for the iPhone 8.

The LG G6 is expected to launch at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain while the Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored for launch in late March with a global release date in April.

7 iPhone 8 Features We Want in 2017

New iPhone 8 Design to Enable Features

New iPhone 8 Design to Enable Features

Everyone wants a new iPhone 8 design, but most people don't know what changes they actually want. We're leading off our iPhone 8 feature wish list with a new iPhone 8 design because it is a key part of enabling new iPhone 8 features.

After sticking with a very similar design for three years there is an expectation of major changes for the 2017 iPhone and here are the things we would love to see Apple do with a new design.

Shrink the overall size of the iPhone 7 Plus without lowering the screen size. Apple could do this by shrinking the bezels on the sides and bottom of the iPhone some to offer a smaller overall package. The latest leak from Apple shows how this could happen.

Apple could choose to change where you use Touch ID and how the home button works in new ways to make this happen. The latest designs don't show a home button. We could see a change to Touch ID  or a switch to face unlocking.

We definitely don't want a phone that is slim just to be slim, especially not at the price of battery life, but there is something to be said about an iPhone 8 design that trims some fat.

The Jet Black iPhone 7 feels different than all the other colors. While it is more susceptible to scratches it is easier to grip, which is something we can definitely see Apple add to the new iPhone 8.

KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kou predicts the iPhone 8 design will look include an all glass front and back with stainless steel metal on the edges of premium models. This could come together for an iPhone 8 design that looks like a cross between the iPhone 4s and the Jet Black iPhone 7.
