iStick Flash Drive Now Includes MicroUSB & Lightning in One

As an effort to improve upon the original iStick, Hyper has announced the iStick Pro at CES 2015, which not only includes a Lightning connector, but a microUSB connector as well that’s hidden inside of the full-size USB port.

This means that you can use it not only on your iPhone or iPad, but it will also work on Android devices or other products that have a microUSB port.

The microUSB plug can be retracted away and hidden inside of the full-size USB plug, which is something we’ve never seen before and is quite a genius and creative way to do it.

The iStick Pro will come in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB versions. Pricing details haven’t been disclosed yet, but you can expect to pay a pretty penny for the privilege of owning one.

The first iStick that was announced earlier in 2014 only supported Apple’s Lightning connector, and it allowed you to essentially connect a flash drive to your iPhone and iPad and transfer files to and from the device, although you have to use the accompanying app from Hyper in order to make that happen, since iOS doesn’t natively support such a feature.

The iStick works by plugging into your Mac or Windows PC where you transfer files over to the iStick just like you would with any ordinary USB flash drive.

Then you just plug the Lightning end into an iPhone or iPad and fire up the iStick companion app where you can manage all of the files that are stored on the iStick.

From the app, you can watch videos, listen to music, view photos and view documents — no need to copy all of the files to the iOS device first, as the files will simply work right from the flash drive if you so choose to take that route.
