LastPass is a password manager that keeps your passwords locked behind one strong password, which is the last password you need to remember. This simplifies logging in to websites and apps on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android.
LastPass is free to use online and is just $12 a year for the premium feature that unlocks mobile access. On the iPhone and Android you can log in to websites using a fingerprint reader or your master password.

All of your passwords sync between your devices so even if you create a 14 digit super secure password for you bank on your laptop you can pull it up and log in on your iPhone, iPad or Android without remembering that specific password.
You can sign up for LastPass free from a computer and try out the service. When you sign up you need to create a very strong password that you will not forget. My password is well over 20 characters long, but it is the only password that I need to remember so it isn’t a challenge. On devices with a fingerprint reader you don’t need to enter it on a small keyboard very often.

When it comes time to create a new password LastPass creates one for you based on length and other settings you choose. When you use the LastPass browser extension the service knows you are making a new account and can show a small generate password icon. When creating a secure password, you can set the length, characters to use and if it should use numbers or other special characters so that it fits the restrictions of some websites. You can also choose to have the password created as something you can pronounce, so that you can remember them if you need to.
In addition to storing your passwords securely, LastPass can also store your credit card information so that you can auto fill a credit card form easily without reaching for your wallet. This also comes in handy when you need to re-enter a 3-digit credit card code and you left your wallet at home.
Generate a secure password with LastPass.
There is a LastPasss extension for FireFox, Chrome, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer that can automatically fill in your passwords after you log in with your primary password. This simplifies logging in to websites and services. There is also a standalone LastPass application for Windows and for Mac as well as LastPass Portable versions for many browsers as well as Linux support.
With a LastPass Premium membership you can view and use your LastPass passwords on iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and in Dolphin Browser or FireFox Mobile.
All of your passwords, credit cards and other secure notes are synced across all of your devices. This lets me log in to any service without typing insanely long and complex passwords on a smartphone keyboard. I can also log in to the LastPass service on a computer to access one of my passwords without installing a plugin or re-typing the password from my iPhone.
When I need to share passwords with coworkers or my Wife I use LastPass to share that password easily. I can also share updates when I need to change the password or remove a share when I no longer want them to have access to a specific website.
You can also secure LastPass with two-factor authentication.
LastPass can help you perform an audit of your accounts and passwords so that you can change your passwords and gain better security from those you already created before signing up for LastPass. When you start LastPass can import passwords from your browser and some other password managers.
LastPass also supports two-factor authentication including YubiKey, Google Authenticator, Toopher, Duo Security, Transakt, Grid and fingerprint options. This allows you to connect an ever-changing code with your LastPass login for greater security.
LastPass is the best password manager I’ve used and it keeps the many passwords I need to remember for work and my personal life secure, allows me to use unique passwords and keep the information available on all my devices. LastPass Premium delivers an insane value for $12 a year.
