on

With Windows 8 scheduled to ship on October 26, we should see a number of new tablets over the next few months. Today we have a leaked tablet from Lenovo, the ThinkPad Tablet 2.

According to The Verge, some leaked slides show off a new Windows 8 Lenovo tablet running Windows 8. According tot he presentation slides, the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 has a dual-core Intel Clover Trail CPU, 64GB of storage, and 2GB of RAM. The device also has a 10.1-inch WXGA display which means it has a resolution of 10280×768.

The ThinkPad Tablet 2 has an optional pen input, as well as NFC, fingerprint scanner, and 4G LTE. Like many other Lenovo ThinkPad tablets it also has a keyboard dock that likely uses the same great keyboard the ThinkPad series is known for.

Lenovo is targeting businesses with the ThinkPad Tablet 2. The company has one slide dedicated to showing the advantages of the ThinkPad 2 over the iPad in enterprise. The checklist includes features like “runs familiar PC apps & Metro,””USB and SD card encryption,” “RAID mirroring for external drives,” and support for multiple users.

Going up against the iPad is tough, and Lenovo knows it. The company admits it’s “hard to compete” with the App Store which “is considered ‘The Standard.'” Lenovo will still try, however. We’re not sure how many users will want to use a Windows 8 tablet over the Pad, but it’s nice to see some companies are trying.

We expect Lenovo to release the ThinkPad Tablet 2 sometime around October 26, the same time as Windows 8 and Microsoft’s Windows RT Surface.
