Many of you are still in the dark about whether or not you will be seeing Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Well, those of you who own a Optimus 2X, Optimus 3D, Optimus LTE or Optimus Black will be happy to know that the shrouds have dissipated for these four smartphones as LG has announced that they will indeed be getting the upgrade to ICS in the future.

And while the company did not confirm exactly when the devices would be seeing the update, the company promised more information on its Facebook page at some point in December.

So, at this point, if you own one of these devices, you’re probably looking at Android 4.0 at some point in 2012.

Here is LG’s statement, from its Facebook page:

LG confirms today that the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS will be initially available for the following high-end LG smartphones which were introduced this year: the Optimus 2X, the Optimus Black, the Optimus 3D and the Optimus LTE. We are also continuing to evaluate the ICS OS to determine whether it is compatible with the functionality, features and performance of other LG smartphones to make the ICS OS available on as many LG smartphones as possible.

In December this year, the forthcoming upgrade schedule and additional specific models for the ICS OS upgrade will be posted on our LG Mobile Global Facebook page (www.facebook.com/LGMobile) and on our local LG websites. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.

We wish that this was confirmation for the U.S. versions of these devices, hopefully that comes in December.

Still, it’s nice to see LG being open about the upgrade process. We wish more manufacturers adopted this policy.
