The LG G3 release date is quickly approaching, but before it arrives more and more details have emerged ahead of the announcement. The past two weeks have been flooded with new reports and information, and today a few more key details have been brought to light.

Yesterday we received some of the best images yet of the upcoming LG G3, as well as a few new bits of information, but today a similar set have arrived with even more details, and with the screen powered on.

As the May 27th reveal inches closer the details haven’t stopped flowing regarding the LG G3, and today courtesy of @evleaks we’re getting our best shot of the new smartphone yet. Giving us the first look of the phone with that stunning Quad-HD display powered on, and explaining the mystery sensor on back near the rear-mounted buttons.

The LG G3 is poised to be one of the better smartphones in 2014 for consumers and prospective buyers, and if all the leaks as of late turn up accurate it should give the Galaxy S5 some serious competition. With the LG G2 starting to show its age, and the Galaxy S5 not having top end specs many expected, the LG G3 is positioned to be the top smartphone of the summer.

Yesterday three official press photos leaked of the LG G3, but today evleaks is sharing the same ones in their final form. These have the 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display on, showing the splash or lockscreen and new Android 4.4.2 KitKat interface, as well as the new circle clock widget that LG will have on board.

One thing worth noting on these new images is the lack of a bezel around the display. LG’s been working to have a super sleek and thin bezel around the screen to make the display pop, as well as keep the overall device physical size to a minimum. The LG G3 will still have a 5.5-inch screen, but shouldn’t be much bigger than the LG G2 from 2013.

Details surrounding the LG G3 have been arriving at an alarming rate, and as a result we know nearly everything there is to know about this smartphone already. While we’ll go over the final specs and full details below, the other main feature that was revealed for the first time today is regarding the sensors on back.

The LG G3 will feature a stunning 13 megapixel camera with an improved Optical Image Stabilization technology, which should provide for an excellent camera experience. However evleaks also confirmed that along with an amber/white dual-stage flash on the rear, the sensor to the left is something very unique. The LG G3 will have an infrared laser focus. This will allow for excellent and extremely fast focus, and likely some post-processing and depth of field features like the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8.

The laser auto focus is a brand new feature, and not a lot is known at this point, but it’s safe to say this will also seriously improve low-light photography situations as well.

So what can prospective buyers expect from the LG G3, and how will it compare to the competition? According to various leaks over the past two months the LG G3 will be quite the handset. Confirmed by leaks and LG themselves we’ll have a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display, the first of its kind for the US market.

LG’s G3 will have a huge screen but thin bezels as we see from the photos above, and around back is where everything else happens. The rear-mounted buttons have been redesigned and look more comfortable, and we’re hearing under that aluminum power button is a fingerprint scanner for security. Just like the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5.

Being powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor with 2/3GB of RAM the phone will be fast and fluid for any and all tasks, and we’re hearing 32GB of internal storage will be included. This year LG returned the micro-SD slot for storage expansion, and the user-removable and replaceable battery is expected to be around 3,200 mAh in size. Essentially bigger and better in every way than the Galaxy S5, and the LG G2 before it.

A few weeks ago LG confirmed the G3 will officially be announced and revealed to the world on May 27th, live in London and New York City. This means the wait to finally here if all the rumors are correct isn’t too long. The wait for consumers to buy this brand new impressive flagship smartphone won’t be too long either.

LG has already stated the LG G3 will launch in the United States and across the globe before the end of June. This means buyers will be able to head to any of the major five US carriers within the next 30-45 days and get the LG G3. We’re hearing the second week of June for a release date, but either way it will be available before the end of June.

We’re expecting all major US carriers to offer the LG G3 around the same date, and will know more leading up to the May 27th launch date.
