LG G3 Release Date Emerges for U.S. Buyers

Published

on

With the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 both readily available, consumers have been looking forward to what else is on the horizon for later this summer. One of many upcoming devices is the new LG G3, and we’re slowly starting to learn more and more release date details for U.S. buyers.

Since first being announced back at the tail end of May, LG and carriers in the United States have been silent regarding any potential launch date details or plans. Aside from a few leaks last month, we’ve had nothing to go on until now.

This week both T-Mobile and Sprint shared LG G3 release date details with prospective buyers, and below is everything we know so far. Based on a few official announcements and leaks from previous months, the LG G3 launch is just weeks away and here’s what you need to know.

After months of leaks and rumors the LG G3 was finally announced at the end of May, but since then we’ve not received any details regarding a release. Unlike the HTC One M8 that launched on the same day, and was available on all major US carriers within two weeks.

The LG G3 was released in Korea the day after being announced, On May 28th, but now more than a month later no US carriers are offering the device, but in the next three weeks that will change. The first official announcement came from T-Mobile, who confirmed the LG G3 will be released on July 16th.

Earlier this week those looking to pick up the brand new 5.5-inch LG G3 from Sprint also received information they’ve been waiting for. As Sprint announced July 10th is when pre-orders will start, and for its buyers the LG G3 release date is scheduled for July 18th. Just two days after T-Mobile.

Above is a brand new image provided by evleaks, who’s previously shared release rumors regarding the G3 on Verizon Wireless. According to his reports the Verizon LG G3 will be released in stores across the US on July 17th, right in the middle of the nationwide launch from T-Mobile and Sprint.

However, at this time there’s no official announcement from Verizon, and the same can be said about AT&T. While the other two above released official announcement details, Verizon and AT&T have been silent. The link above reportedly confirms the Verizon launch is the 17th, but we’ll have to wait for Verizon to confirm these details.

The original LG Optimus G and LG G2 from 2013 both launched first on AT&T and eventually other carriers, but at this time AT&T is the only carrier we’ve yet to receive any G3 release info on. Prospective buyers assume it will launch on that carrier first, and we’ll be sure to share additional release details as soon as they become available.

As you can see from our link above, the LG G3 is an extremely impressive smartphone with tons to offer. The device has been hotly anticipated thanks to many high-end features consumers are excited about. Those being the 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD (2k display) screen, slim bezels, and overall sleek design.

LG’s added an improved 13 megapixel optical image stabilized camera with a first of its kind laser auto-focus. Something usually reserved for high end DSLR cameras. The LG G3 runs the latest Android 4.4 KitKat, a powerful 2.5 GHz quad-core processor with 2 or 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. Users will be able to add a micro-SD slot for expanding storage, and the removable 3,000 mAh battery is expected to provide all day usage. As a reference, that’s bigger than both the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 batteries.

So far it appears the middle of July will be the nationwide US release date for the LG G3 on all carriers, but we’re still waiting for AT&T’s announcement and launch details. We’ll update with more concrete information as soon as it becomes available.

I buy LG G3 on 4th July with great hope in Dubai but disappointed to find that this device is not compatitible to BBM which is widely used application for chatting. I tried to download from Google Play Store but its declined. I do not know why so high end device is not preloaded ot compatible with BBM. Any one can help to answer.

I would assume there is little support for BBM because it’s a Blackberry app so it would make sense that Google would not be interested in putting it on their phones. The G3 is running an operating system that’s still pretty new, so Blackberry probably hasn’t put a lot of effort into supporting it either.

In LG G3 missign BBM. Not compatible device to download from Google Pay Store. What a great device which misses widely used chatting application BBM.
