LG G4 Problems Frustrate Owners

Published

on

The new LG G4 is arguably one of the best Android smartphones released in 2015 and has plenty to offer with a big 5.5-inch screen, great performance, and one of the best cameras of any smartphone. But all of that doesn’t come without at least a few complaints. Now that the LG G4 is available from all major US carriers, reports and problems are starting to surface that are frustrating LG G4 owners.

On April 28th the LG G4 was announced live in New York City, replacing the older G3 from last year, and eventually arrived on all five major US carriers during the first week of June. It’s only been available for a few short weeks, and now that millions of owners are enjoying the phone, we’re starting to hear more and more about a few shortcomings with the otherwise excellent device.

Read: LG G4 Review

The LG G4 received high praises all around the web, not to mention an Editors’ Choice Award here at GottaBeMobile for being one of the best phones to date. That all said, we’re starting to hear multiple reports about touchscreen issues, discoloration, Bluetooth complaints and more. Read on for a few of the main things we’ve heard thus far.

LG G4 Back Camera

To start, late last week an update started rolling out on both AT&T and T-Mobile aimed at fixing a few critical issues in the software, as well as improving general device stability and performance. This was a mandatory update that both carriers pushed out and even installed without any interaction from the user.

This means owners weren’t able to accept or deny the update, and if they didn’t accept it, the carriers manually installed it anyways. This has frustrated some as along with fixing performance and other things, it likely blocked some vulnerabilities in the software allowing owners to root the phone, Android’s version of a jailbreak.

An update arriving and installing on its own was something many owners weren’t too happy about, but it’s the first update since the phone was released, aimed at getting everything right now that the phone is available to the public. Most likely it was worth updating, but still, this had many users upset.

LG G4

However, the bigger issue appears to be a few nasty problems with the LG G4 touchscreen, as well as Bluetooth. The LG G4 has a beautiful 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display that’s one of the best on the market, but we’re hearing a few horror stories about it not recognizing taps, swipes, and general usage.

According to XDA Developers, who conducted a poll for those who own the LG G4, about 60% of owners are reporting touchscreen issues. The device simply doesn’t recognize all touches, something that is making many owners frustrated when they try to use KnockCode or other lockscreen security measures to unlock and use the device. Not to mention just daily usage. At the time of writing this only 38% have voted they’re having no problems, with the other 62% mentioning at least some sort of problem. Whether that’s daily, or just occasionally remains to be seen, and hopefully this can be addressed via a software update to make the screen more responsive.

We’ve yet to experience any touchscreen issues on our international LG G4, nor is our LG G4 on AT&T having problems. This doesn’t appear to be extremely widespread, but the numbers from the XDA poll above aren’t too comforting.

Then, heading over to the AndroidCentral forums there are a few threads where multiple LG G4 owners are complaining about Bluetooth. The main concern is the device not connecting to users car stereos or Bluetooth speakers for audio playback, but this could just be an incompatibility or user error. Another user reported that every time he turns off Bluetooth when he exits the car, the LG G4 reboots. This isn’t a widespread issue, but still, seeing reports of this is one more thing users and potential buyers need to be aware of.

We’re also seeing many of these complaints come from Verizon LG G4 owners, and as you know, the Verizon LG G4 release came with a few compromises as the carrier removed some popular software from the device. Features that other LG G4 owners are able to enjoy. The LG G4 is still one of the best phones around, and we’ll investigate further and update the moment we know more. Drop a comment below with any other problems or concerns you may have with your own G4.

11 Best LG G4 Cases

LG G4 Folio Flip Case

LG G4 Folio Flip Case

Just like last year, LG is offering an official Folio Circle Case that offers multiple levels of protection, additional neat features, and a Flip cover to protect that big 5.5-inch screen. The trademark circle window cutout in the flip cover shows a clock, the weather, incoming call or text message information, quick access to the camera and more all without ever opening the case.

Flipping open the case instantly wakes up your device, but you can do everything mentioned above without even opening it. This case makes your phone durable, offers additional features, and protects the screen all in one. Last but certainly not least, there's also a second version of the Folio Case that enables wireless charging, making it more than worth the more expensive price point.

LG hasn't announced pricing for the G4 Folio case and it's still listed as coming soon on LG.com, but last year the G3 Folio case was $49, and the wireless charging enabled case was $59.99. We'll update once it actually goes on sale.

Google Music is an issue I have with the G4. Not all my music is showing up. Music I uploaded or added with All Access is hit or miss what’s available. My laptop, tablet, HTC One and iphone 5 all show my complete collection. I reset the phone and reinstalled everything and it still isn’t showing all my music I emailed Google tech support 2 times and have heard nothing. I found a few people who in other forums who are having same issue

Mine crashes every 2 minutes and when I asked if what they can do they told me it will take three weeks to get it in and return it three weeks without my phone and when asked about a replacement Annie at customer services said snotily I can’t have one they don’t offer that and I quote. “do you want the repair or not”. Disgusting

Touch screen issues, no smart stay keeping screen on when eye detection is there, no “screen off effects option” I have the AT&T version and consistently, apps will close when you tap, or try to scroll up or down in a program. (ie–FaceBook etc..) Why did LG omit the screen stay on feature! really, I use this and my G3 had it… the new has worn off very fast.

Got my G$ sat, on weds I lost half my screen. Seriously half my screen is just a fuzzy blank space right down the center of the phone. Guess I’m taking it back.

Same happened to my g4 at 2 weeks in. Wouldn’t you know it was past the return deadline. So after much runaround Sprint finally sent me a new phone (according to them). Took “new” phone to store to have it activated only to find out it doesn’t work…screen problems….according and it’s refurished. Customer service told me to contact LG. Hopefully they can help.

Had my lg g4 for a week and Loved it… did notice touch screen not as sensitive but was dealing. Now all of a sudden it gets extremely hot even when I’m not using it and battery not holding up,,,and alarm clock alarm gets stuck and wont shut up. Haven’t used blue tooth so can’t comment on that. I’m very discouraged cause I was really liking my phone. :((

    1. Doesn’t Interact with the following Applications
    a. Pandora -doesn’t properly transmit the following song Info
    (1) No song Title provided to car blue tooth interface
    (2) Status bar does not display
    (3) Timer continues from previous song
    (4) Intermittent interaction with controls to advance songs via Bluetooth (sometimes it works…sometimes it doesn’t)
    (5) When playing Pandora, cannot here caller when phone is answered. Phone will sound very low in volume.
    (6) Contacted LG and they couldn’t provide an answer.
    b. Facebook – doesn’t rotate the pictures, even when the rotate function is on
    c. Email – When deleting emails, deleted emails will not be removed from web account although not displaying on phone in email setting
    d. Amazon Player – doesn’t properly transmit the following song Info
    (a) Does not show status bar for songs.
    (b) Timer continues from previous song
    2. Smart Settings are temperamental – Enabled Bluetooth to automatically open Pandora. Most of the time defaults to MP3 on Phone and doesn’t open Pandora.
    3. Will not allow for additional creation of screen windows, only created for two
    4. LG Health will only show steps or calories tracked but not both simultaneously like the Galaxy 5.

    1. Bluetooth – figured out I need to wipe the bluetooth cache before connecting to anything (my car, bt speaker), temporary fix tho as every couple days I have to repeat!
    2. Try to play video from multiple sources (YouTube, news sites) and sometimes it plays behind the thumbnail (you can see the video behind running with the audio)
    3. The double tap to awake is not very sensitive

But it is a good phone, so I’m hoping it’s just an easy fix with an upcoming update.

My Sprint G4 half the screen locks up, and the phone heats up with the simplest of uses. So far, I’ve only owned it for 2 weeks and this is happening….very disappointed.

Had the same issue. Take it back in and exchange it. Mine started crashing constantly, No rhyme or reason, and it would get hot to the touch. Swapped mine out at day 9.

      07/22/2015 at 9:03 am

Same problem here but mine happened after my 14 day Sprint satisfaction period so I had to deal with LG for a warranty replacement. They’ve had my phone for 2 weeks and still won’t give me a status update other than “the repair depot has received the device”.

        08/03/2015 at 3:43 am

Quick update, it’s been almost 4 weeks now. I’ve had the refurb they sent me for a little over a week. The ESN for the phone they sent isn’t compatible with the Sprint network and LG doesn’t seem to care at all that I haven’t had a working phone for nearly a month. They already got my money so they’re in no hurry to make things right.

I contacted LG. They have no resolve for these issues yet. They seemed to not be aware there are any problems. (yeah, okay sure)

I’ve had my G4 for a week and for the last few days I’ve had a lot of trouble charging it. About half the time I have it plugged in, it claims that my universal charger isn’t compatible with the phone and automatically stops charging to “prevent damage to the device.” What’s the point of having a universal charger port if I can only use the LG brand charger that came with the phone? VERY frustrated

      06/26/2015 at 5:32 am

Holy shit, this is exactly the same problem for me. Ive had it fof 2 days now and the charging cable comes out very easily just a slight movement, didnt charge at all last night its ridiculous and I have experienced lag when typing a simple text with no other windows/apps/tabs open. Quite disappointed so far

    • Jas

      03/20/2016 at 1:58 pm

I know this is late, but for the benefit of others you will usually only get this error message if it decides you plugged in your charger upside down, just reverse how it’s plugged into the outlet and it’ll be fine.

However, my problem has been the forward facing camera deciding not to work, so I get to send it back….yay!….

    The problems encountered so far:
    1. Touch screen not very sensitive. Have to keep typing for the same letter.
    2. Couldn’t launch camara. Have to restart the phone.
    3. Couldn’t receive or make calls. Have to restart the phone.
    4. Couldn’t open any web page/search. Have to restart the phone.
    5. Click on link in email creating dual screen and couldn’t get rid of that. Tried to follow LG solutions to resolve the issue but there isn’t same button as mentioned in the instructions.

    I’m using tMobil.

The returning issue after receiving a new replacement G4 for the one I purchased 2 weeks ago is once I leave home and disconnect from home wifi, I use Verizon data, or connect to coffee shop wifi.

Once I return home and reconnect to home wifi (which was tested and works perfectly), my phone connects, but performs excruciatingly slow to connect to links on Google, FB, or any other site.

I have to disconnect battery, then put back in and THEN it performs smoothly and fast once again. My only issue with phone is connecting to links with said scenario.

Tech support tried everything to no avail and sent me this replacement doing the same thing. Other phones and tablets and laptops perform just fine.

Any ideas out there? Anyone else?

I’m experiencing the same issue with my G4! I’ll be on my work wifi during the day, but when i get home and use my home wifi, very slow! I don’t have to go as far as removing battery, but a simple restart usually solves the issue. Still, very frustrating! My previous S4 never had this issue .

I have the same problem… the secuence to reproduce the error is:
Restart The phone, connect to WIFI, works OK
Turn off wifi, use the 4g LTE for navigation
Turn On Wifi, now exist a long lag to open links…
      I don’t know what to do….

I have the same issue with my home wifi. its connection is intermittent and if I move to my bedroom or the basement my connection is extremely slow or times out and does not connect at all! This is my biggest frustration with the phone. At first I was not able to send snaps and at all and my pandora would load but not stream the songs. After two on line chat conversations with sprint reps and on call to their tech service I was able to get that fixed but it is very choppy and not a very strong connection even though it says it is. The other phone in our house, iphone and galaxy s 5 dont have this problem. Very frustrating. I hope there will be an upgrade very soon to correct this problem!!

I just got my G4 two days ago. I switched from a Galaxy S5, and I’m used to a very responsive screen. This phone is driving me insane with how slow the screen is. I have to tap multiple times to get it to respond, the typing and Swype feature is especially awful. Is anyone else having this issue?! It is constant.

Where do I begin? When I got my SGS4 I was very impressed for 2 years, never had an issue and it was refurbished. Surely the LG G4 would blow my mind, nope. Sluggish, hot, when leaving app screen goes black, call quality is bad even with Verizon HD calling, touchscreen not responsive, caller ID issues, charging issues, etc… called Verizon and lg, they were shocked and said this was their first call about this issue. Nothing in their knowledge base. When I said it’s all over the Web about the same issues they denied it and said xda, android central, etc… post false info. I was really thrown back, I was hoping they would have known and are getting ready to push an update. Now thinking of selling this thing and getting a note 4 or 5. This will be the last LG I ever purchase. Did my research and so many great posts about this thing. What a shame and a let down. Thanks LG. To run a test open Quick Note and slide the pen back and forth then try tapping and see how many missed taps you get.

Here is the response from LG regarding issues. It’s of no help.

    ——Reply to Your Inquiry——-

    Hi Kyle,

Thank you for taking time to contact LG and we really appreciate your e-mail!

I hope everything is going well with you.

We regret any inconvenience you’re having with your LG phone. Regarding your concern, I’m afraid that the Smart screen is not an included feature on the LG G4. I’m so sorry to disappoint you in this matter.

I also checked the link you have provided and noticed that they are having issues with the phone’s touch screen. We’re very sorry as LG doesn’t expect this to happen. I do recognize the frustration and disappointment this has brought as I would definitely feel the same if this has happened. As consumers, we definitely do not want to be treated in such a way. Please accept our apology for the trouble or inconvenience you have experienced.

What I will do is I’m going to forward your concern and feedback to our Developers team and make a report of this issue so they can look into this if this is a software-related issue. I’ll be providing all relevant information about the issue to them to possibly have an update to correct the device. I couldn’t provide you for now the ETA for a patch/update to be pushed through to the phone to fix the issues but we will keep you posted once we got a word from them. We appreciate you for taking the time to communicate to us.

If you have questions or need further assistance, please let me know. You can reach us out via LG Live Chat on our website (www.lg.com/us), or on our phone support by calling our technical support hotline 800-243-0000/ 1-800-793-8896.

Thank you and we wish you all the best.

    Sincerely,
    Ed

I just bought the LG G4. My issue is with WIFI calling, Error 99 and 81 show up. The airplane mode is activated even when the airplane mode is not on or highlighted. It keeps telling me turn off airplane mode. Yeah right! So now I have a pending ticket with the T-Mobile Engineers. I have to wait at least three days. Great. Good luck everyone. When scrolling thru websites it has a mind of its own apparently and acts like I tapped something although I hadn’t lifted my finger at all. Loved my LG G2 until Lollipop and then it SUCKED! Have ATT got G4 and not impressed. If I am outside in the heat, nothing (in any screen) on the left side of the screen responds. Phone gets hot even in the air conditioning. Will not sync up with 2014 Corvette….does not work at all! G2 worked great. Screen response is slow. When swipe to answer a call, have to do it numerous times and often miss calls. If this is the BEST phone out there currently…..sad! ATT said “phones don’t like heat”. I said I don’t either but I have to work in the heat and my phone should too. I have owned dozens of cell phones and they all worked in the heat!

This LG4 is very disappointing. I moved up from an S5 and chose the G4 primarily because it had a removable battery and sd card. The screen is not very responsive to taps knock code and messaging failed. At first i though it was because of the cpu usage or ram but that is not the cause. I have the T-Mobile version and i’m very discouraged to see after reading the comments here that other users on other carriers are having issues as well. I doubt an update will fix this issue. Sending it back to T-Mobile today after using it for 10 days and i will have to pay a restocking fee of $50.00 because the phone is defective.

I switched from iPhone over to the G4, which I’ve had for 4 days now. So far my only issues are the phone not waking up from sleep when I tap on the screen, and for whatever reason when making a phone call that asks you to push a number corresponding with a choice, it would not register any button I pushed . any updates if this is something an update can fix or is anyone else having similar issues?

    • oana

      02/23/2016 at 6:16 pm

yes! the screen is black and I keep pushing the Big button but stays on for less than a sec and doesn’t let me in for at least 10 min. can’t even restart it. when I make calls and try to end them the screen is black, can’t do anything, I am lucky if the person on the other end ends the call. imagine how long are the voice messages I leave unwilingly. When I need it the most I am locked out for minutes and is getting worse..no more flashes ..just pitch black. it started after couple months and figure that- I’ve got no warranty and have 1 year and a half to go until my contract with ee ends.

Bluetooth audio controls don’t seem to work for all users, including myself. I have a VW GTI, 2015. No issues with iPhone. Cannot control audio, see track info, change tracks with the steering wheel or on screen buttons. Deal breaker.

I had to send my phone to LG after 20 days of use because of screen issues. It took a week and a half after they received it to send a refurb back to me. And now the refurb they sent isn’t compatible with my carriers network! It’s been nearly 4 weeks since I’ve dropped my original phone off at FedEx to get it repaired and I STILL don’t have a phone that I can activate! LG’s customer service is HORRIBLE! I hope if anybody has to deal with them you have a backup phone because they WILL take forever to get it right. They just don’t seem to care since they already got my money. This is my first and most certainly last LG phone I’ll ever buy.

This was the reply I received… We regret any inconvenience you’re having with your LG phone. Regarding your concern, please try enabling/disabling the Auto-retrieve option on your Messaging app and see if this would correct the issue with the group meesaging.

        1. From Home screen, tap MESSAGING > press MENU key > SETTINGS > uncheck the “Auto-retrieve” within the MMS section.

I went thru lg which was 0 Help then finally Verizon sees and says yes lg knows there’s and there not giving answers. So I did more work swapping phones until I had number 3 no changes so what’s different I investigate my wife’s phone has a manufacture date of 6/15 and works flawless however all of mine were manufactured 5/15 so I’m going with bad batch or bad digitizer I’m in number 4 with 0 issues and has a manufacture date of 6\15. The part that is the worst is people looking at you like your crazy.

I am having the same issues with my screen locking up on only the left hand side with Sprint. Last week at the Spring strore I was told to factory reset. Things seemed to work fine for 3 days which pushed me past my 14 day trial. Now the phone freezes again and now just shutdowns for no reason. Have to pull the battery and then boot up. Seems when running Waze the screen will freeze up constantly. I switched from a Galaxy S5 and regretting this decision.

I’m having issues with my volume going up and down on its own. I’ll have the sound all the way down at work and then all of the sudden it will bring itself back up. I don’t know if this is a performance issue of some setting that I need to fix. Anyone else having this problem?

Bluetooth in my car connects/disconnects/connects/disconnects ad nauseum. It will not stay connected so, unfortunately, it is useless to use in the car via BT. I have searched LG’s site, downloaded an app they suggested, with no help. I am so frustrated!

major problem with Shutdown. Unlike my S5 I can shutdown the G4 without unlocking it. This becomes a real problem if the phone is stolen as the thief can shut the phone down and I haven’t anyway of tracking its whereabouts.

My LG4 worked fine for the first three weeks (bought it in the beginning of July). Then it began shutting down and rebooting on its own randomly. Then it did it more often. Sometimes instead of rebooting (which it often gets stuck in a boot loop during and the battery has to be removed) it just shuts down. When it does this, it will not power on at all or recognize the charger if you plug it in and the battery needs to be removed. It overheats often… and it really gets hot. It stopped downloading any apps from the playstore. I finally did a hard reset hoping to solve the problem. Nope. It continued. I went to the radio shack where I bought it and because it is after the 14 day return policy (which of course I had no issues during) they couldn’t do anything for me. They did check out the phone and confirmed that they saw no damage to the phone of my own cause. I contacted Sprint next. Who told me I need to take it to a repair center to have them look at it. Which, of course, there is not one local to me and so until I can get to one I suffer with this expensive crap phone. It wiped itself out once and then was stuck on some speaking tutorial that it wouldn’t come out of and I had to then hard reset it again myself. Still the same issues. Constant. I’ve missed capturing moments of my toddler because the phone wouldn’t work. I had to reset it yet again 2 days ago because the Home button stopped responding. This is extremely frustrating and ridiculous. It is all I have for a phone and cannot count on it working for anything. I pay for service I can’t use. I paid for a brand new phone that is awful. I have owned 2 other LG phones in the past and had no problem with either. I was really looking forward to this one but have been nothing but disappointed and frustrated.

I upgraded my S5 to the new LG4 compact its a good phone but i keep having problems with the response time when i hit apps or icons on the screen it takes for ever. That might be an exaggeration but realistically 10 -15 seconds to resond to a command. I have tried rebooting the phone and deleting apps so rheres more memory but no improvement. Then other times its fine but it is becoming a frustrating problem i wish i had stayed with my trusted Galaxy.

Extremely laggy when typing. Not recognizings taps. Verizon variant. I ordered the new Moto X Pure Edition to replace it already. 3 months and no updates to fix the problems that the majority of owners have (62%?). I really wanted to love this phone (coming from 3 years of having problems with my samsung phones). I do love the UI. If the lagginess was fixed, I’d keep it.

I have had the phone for about 3 weeks. Verizon VS986 variant. Typing lags, misses letters constantly, and suddenly there is a black phantom spot in all the pictures i take. There is absolutely no scratches or dust on the lens.i have looked with a magnifying glass. Almost as if the sensor is damaged. Never dropped…nothing. Even switching to the google keyboard the typing lag continues. Will not connect to a Comcast router properly. It gets 6-8 iPV6 addresses and web access slows to a crawl. I brided an older Netgear router to it and it works fine but i have 105+mbps and the Netgear is too old to support the fukl speed. BLOATWARE everywhere from Verizon. Can’t root. I miss my Note 3.

Aaaaah soooo, After reading these comments I see my LG phone and tablet is NOT the only one around with problems. How shall I start: First day purchased phone would not ring, couldn’t select a ring tone, when I set the volume to high the phone would reset the volume to off. I took the phone back to US Cellular. They said that never happens with an LG. They fiddled with it and it started working for two days. Then it started writing in red pen on the dial screen, soon splotches of red were everywhere. I took the phone back four times for additional problems. It was as if it was POSSED certainly with its own agenda. Last straw CBS news video came on while I was in a phone conversation, the other party could here it also. I was done with it. I got another LG because it had been a package deal with a free android tablet. The second LG started with same problems but not as severe. But now the tablet won’t open. It is going back. I understood LG to be an excellent product but at this rate it might become an Xproduct.

This lg g4 phone is terrible. Problem. Touch screen often fails to open with taps and must attempt to open with button on back. 2. Most frustrating of all is the screen goes black, will not stay on and can”r make even 911 call or retrieve any calls, texts. Multiple calls to tech support who says they never heard of problem and in store personnel of no help either. If ever in emergency, I am in big trouble as this phone will not allow me to make a call. Three months, Contract for lots of money and not a decent phone. Certainly Verizon should make this right. Only consideration is a refurbished phone. I am upset with this phone and Verizon. I would suggest that you stay away from this phone if you don”r want to be frustrated.

Regarding the G4 phone, With my G4, Voice dialing is ridiculous. I don’t think the voice lady can hear me. Either that, or she is drunk ans a skunk (-: Most of the time, when the phone’s voice lady repeats my calling numbers for verification, I either hear a completely different number or she says “Command not recognized. I have always predominately used voice dialing and love it. With my G4 it is worse than worthless, but I have read no complaints about this issue. It seems like she can’t hear me very well; but, when I switch to “OK Google” voice dialing always works perfect. The only downside of OK Google is that for voice dialing I can’t keep my phone in my pocket. Any suggestions?

LG will lose so many customers over their pathetic guest service. People are basically forgiving provided remorse is evident and all signs indicate they care about you as a customer. LG clearly does not. Whether they fix our phones or not I will never use them again!! Too many other companies who care out there.

My biggest complaint is that my home wifi gets disconnected randomly in the middle of a session. Says it’s avoiding a bad signal. I call bs because all my other devices are hooked up just fine. When I leave my house of course I lose that connection. But when I come back in I have to re-establish the saved wifi. Never had that happen on any device. But sometimes it will reconnect just fine. My wifes s6 is just fine. Perhaps the lg antennae is the problem. So I turned smart search wifi off completely and it seems wifi stays connected. Thinking of getting a new router but that seems a bit too much. Should have ponied up and bought the note 5.

Personally I think for 500 a pop there is a class action suit naming both the manufacturer and the carrier to be made. 14 day return is nonsense. I don’t see why lemon laws should not apply. If it doesn’t work as intended then it’s a defective product. Seems pretty simple to me. Would you stand for a washing machine that didn’t wash clothes?

Other than that the phone is great. Calls are great clarity, fast Web life. No other issues that I’ve seen. Some may be att’s doing and some lg. In my view the carries add to much bloatware of their own overlaying the software developed by the manufacturer. I say make those available as a sprint or Verizon or whatever app and let me download it if I want to.

After being replaced 4 times by verizon the POS LG/G4 has heated up under different circumstances. Tech 2 has documented temps of 109 yet thaey wont replace it with a different model. They offered to replace as long as I trade it in for $146.00 and for me to pay the difference, then I can buy a new one for another 2 years of payments.
looks like Verizon as joined the the ranks of the rest of organized crime world. RICO, Class action law suit or just plain old JUSTICE the can steal and get away with it by blaming the customer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got my LG G4 H812 yesterday On Fido Network. Brought it home, did the updates. Was starting system update and next thing I noticed was a boot loader screen with tiny letter. I bought an LG G4 H815,

The phone has been nothing but problems first was the touch screen and I got that rectified I got some slack for a couple months and then it corrupted my memory card losing almost 5000 photos that I will never be able to get back. Now I am dealing with random restarts, freezing and pulling the battery to restart. I have done factory resets but nothing seems to help. I am frustrated as hell with this product. I was looking into another android phone other than Samsung’s buggy software and bloatware. But it seems that I may have to go back with samsung if LG doesn’t step up their game. I really like the expandable storage, the screen and removable battery. The camera is by far amazing, but still isnt worth the fact that I paid almost 600USD for a sometimes non functional phone in the mere 5-6months that I have it.

    Sincerely,
    Extremely Pissed off customer.

TERRIBLE! Won’t take the knock code 75% of the time. Right now it won’t take it but is turning on & off randomly. The video is difficult to turn on & off. When I charge the phone with the charger that came with it I get a message saying I should use the original charger. Then it sometimes takes 4 hours to charge and one hour to discharge! To make it all more frustrating I can’t get a user manual. I get an error message when I click the link for it.

The screen issue I was having seems to be cleared up after I uninstalled FB messenger. I googled screen not working left corner and a number of forums came up explaining that it may have to do with messenger app. My app did not have to be open for my screen to have issues. I just decided to uninstall the app and the screen started working and I have had no problems with it. I’ve had issues with my time flipping forward and people have said that is probably a carrier issue. So, I have loved my LG G4 so far and google can be a great help if you trouble shoot yourself.

Has anyone had the issue of not being able to receive incoming calls from other mobile devices on the LG G4, because I’ve been having this problem for over a week and it only occurs once I loge into my Gmail account, but as have found no solution to the problem and Google are of no use and washing their hands of the problem, even though my mobile phone provider T-MOBILE has repeatedly said the problem is with Google

Occasionally the pattern swipe doesn’t work correctly and the phone unlocks without having to swipe the pattern. It seems to be connected to notifications coming in, you wake up the phone and the text or email notification is there but the button pattern screen is not there, just the words swipe to unlock, and when you swipe it unlocks.

This is worst phone I have ever had. It keeps overheating and I have to take out the battery to make it stop. At random, the battery will just keep running down. Half the time it wont pick up the wifi.

  73. mdaniels4

    01/22/2016 at 4:58 am

I really like this phone overall. Call quality is excellent is the main point of a phone. I’ve had issues with my Wi-Fi not staying connected and I’ve trained myself to look at the notification bar to see if I’m on my home Wi-Fi or data. I’ve researched this and tried all the different ideas to no avail. I’ve come to the conclusion that it is the phone. My Samsung tabs and other phones all keep a stable connection. So therefore the issue is this LG phone. That’s disturbing to pay higher end and get spotty performance over a simple thing and to get no support from the manufacturer or the carrier. They didn’t have any issues selling it to me at that price. But if this is the worst I have to deal with then I can live with it and not spend more time fretting about it.

What a flaming piece of Dog Crap this LG g4 is. Bought 2 in July for my Daughter and I. Hers started power cycling a month after owning it. They were back ordered ALREADY. Had to fight with Sprint to get a replacemwnt. Her phone went bad a second time after an android update. Then after the recent update to Marshmallow, a week later her phone went bad again. Wouldnt boot. Couldn’t be repaired locally . Then, 3 days later, MY phone went down with rhe SAME issue!! What a Piece of absolute Garbage. I would love ro start a Clasa-Action lawsuit against LG, and Sprint who is Still selling these in the stores.

Fwiw. My g4 just got a software update to android 6. Seems to be a more stable WiFi connection. Just before the update it was turning on and off like a crazy possessed device. After the update i had only one time that it dropped. Noticed the wifi icon in the drop down was off. I didn’t manually turn it off so it did this on its own. My 3 other Samsung devices all had steady connections so i know it’s this phone that does funky stuff. Almost like a loose wire on the board to the antenna. I’ll come back in a few days and see if it holds and let you know. On the smart wifi settings i have it set to be turned on at home but it never does. When i leave it disconnects from the router and when i return i have to manually reconnect. About 98%of the time. But sometimes rarely it will automatically connect. The samsungs always pick it back up again. Weird huh?

  76. mdaniels4

    02/10/2016 at 5:41 am

Btw. For a better keyboard than either google or lg i downloaded swipekey. Google just acquited swipekey. Much much better. The predictive text learns very quickly. Would like it to recognize obviously wrong words and underline them in red with predicted words in a dropdown so you can automatically spell check and see what words may be changed if you want. But it is way better. On my samsung tab the typing is really slow so i went back to the standard keyboard. It also is a bit wonky using Operaas a browser but seems to be just fine in chrome or Firefox.

I believe the WiFi auto disconnect issue is solved. Att version. The have an app called smart switch. Turned all those settings off. Actually removed the app. Seems that this app was arguing for control with the internal android software, trying to wrest control over each other. Since then WiFi reconnects when in range of my home network just fine. Drops every once in a while but I attribute that to blips from my provider signal. Otherwise when it does it self reconnects just fine with seconds or less.

I was wondering after upgrading to the lg g4 from the lg g3 if or why the lg g4 doesn’t have the smart screen sensor that keeps the screen on when looking at it like the g4 does. If I would of known this I would have kept my g3. Any help soul be appreciated. Tim

I have a screen problem on my g4, when i use the knock knock code it doesnt respond i’ve gotta try again even though i know i didnt make mistake on tapping. I also experienced the freezing screen where i cant tap or open any app. I guess it got lagged. This happen after one month i bought it, then there is also a charging problem, its about the phones charging port i guess its broken, gotta have to find a way to charge it. Then also i notice that it doesnt display the music/song being played on the status bar or even in lock screen. Also they said that gorilla glass 3 is anti scratch, I guess its only a false advertisement coz mine have some little scratch on it. Last is the built-in quickremote control app, Appliances not an lg brand (i.e. samsung tv, set box/ audio) it couldnt recognize , its so hard to use.

My MLAIS 4 Note with A5 offers automatic on/off timer, allows to turn phone off for the night, and on for the day, at preset times. LG 4G A5 lacks this menu point in Settings. (Vendor: Telcel Mexico)
LG 4G clock allows to set alarm, however if phone is off alarm won’t Ring. It is of many the first of my phones which can not ring while off. It requires battery drain 24/7.
    What were they thinking?
    NOT RECOMMENDABLE.

My 3rd LG-G4 just died! My favorite Sprint tech got it for me in 2 days, but what good is great service if the G4’s keep dying?

I’ve had my LG G4 for a little over a year and it is not as sensitive, it will only connect to Miracast half of the time, and apps crash decently often. It’s annoying but I love my phone and I hope that Android will get these issues fixed soon.

I bought mine last year and 3 months later, it was loop booting. (rebooting over and over) so I got a replacement. Now 9 months later the replacement has just flat out died. I can pull the battery and “reboot”, but once it gets to the carrier signal display… it shuts down. Dead. I’m getting yet another replacement through my plan, but it’s going to cost me 150.00. I will NEVER use another LG product after this experience.

Serious audio issues. So many calls end up with a bizarre feedback where you can hear yourself so it sounds like there is a third person on the line. Gotta hang up and try calling again. Happens daily. Or sometimes the person on the LG becomes completely inaudible. Just loud white noise when they talk. My husband and I both have this phone and we have exactly the same issues.

I really haven’t had much problems with mine at all. I’ve been very happy with it.
