LG G6 vs LG G5: What Buyers Need to Know

Modularity vs Water-Resistance

Modularity vs Water-Resistance

The LG G5 was somewhat modular with a removable bottom and replaceable battery. This idea didn't really catch on, and no one used it much. And lets be honest, the 2,800 mAh battery wasn't nearly big enough in the LG G5.

For the G6, LG added a much bigger battery and sealed the metal frame with water-resistance. A good trade-off over modularity.

Making the entire phone one solid device, like Samsung or Apple, will allow for a much more premium design and device. The LG G6 was made to a higher standard this time around.

What this means is it matched Samsung's IP68 dust and water-resistance, and beats the iPhone 7 at IP67. Going under water for over 30 minutes up to 5ft in depths without any problems. It seems silly, but is an extremely convenient feature. The peace of mind is priceless. That along with a bigger 3,300 mAh battery are both welcomed changes.
