Microsoft Heads into the Clothing Biz with ‘Softwear’

Published

on

I guess diversification is the name of the game here. Microsoft looks to be getting into the clothing business with a line of clothing called ‘Softwear.’ C’mon, don’t tell me you didn’t see that coming.

Microsoft is working with the firm Crispin Porter & Bogusky to spruce up (or is that down?) its image and they are the brains behind this apparently. Look for some ‘urban geek ware’ to hit store shelves this month. Also look for the rap artist Common to be the spokesperson.

Apparently the first of the softwear we’re to see are nostalgia based with retro-MSDOS fonts and a mugshot of Bill Gates. Yeah, hearkening back to the days of DOS ought to help change the perceptions about Vista. I’m constantly amazed at the money that gets spent (and made) coming up with things like this.

Probably a good idea. I’m a 24 year old hipster, and I’ll probably end up buying one of these shirts.

I had to look at the calendar and make sure it was not April 1. Are you serious? Are they serious?

    Haha, that’s awesome… I hope they make a Windows 3.1 “Program Manager” t-shirt!

Ah, Progman… how I miss thee!

I think it will work if they design with humor and irony.

SAM’s idea for the BSOD is great – i’d buy one of those.
