Best Buy, the United States’ largest physical electronics retailer, isn’t holding back when it comes to the Halo 5 release date. Today the chain of big-box stores and boutique mobile shops confirmed what Halo fans and Xbox One owners are waiting for. Best Buy will hold a midnight Halo 5 release this coming October.

Best Buy confirmed it was holding a midnight Halo 5 release date event this week with an update to the online calendar that highlights upcoming events in its stores. The calendar also shows other big events in gaming happening at the stores too. For example, this week gamers can play Disney Infinity 3.0 at select locations.

On Monday, October 26th, the day before the Halo 5 release date, Best Buy stores will open at 9:01PM Pacific Time. Accounting for time zone changes that’s October 27th at 12:01AM Eastern Standard Time, the exact moment that the stores are allowed to sell disc based copies of Halo 5: Guardians. The event page doesn’t reveal if there’ll be any festive at their Midnight Halo 5 release date event.

Best Buy is giving those that buy a copy of Halo 5: Guardians and have My Best Buy membership a $10 gift card. Also included is a Longshot Assault Rifle with Recoil Compensator for use in the game’s multiplayer experience, according to the Halo 5 hub on its website.

A quick check of other retailers doesn’t yield a lot of information as far as Halo 5 release date events are concerned. Typically, GameStop has midnight launch parties for big-name games. These GameStop release parties include festivities in the store until the game finally goes on sale. Shoppers are invited to hang out in the store all night before they pick up their games.

GameStop hasn’t confirmed a midnight Halo 5 release date event yet, but it’s almost a sure bet that the company will in the very near future. Halo 5: Guardians is expected to be the biggest launch this fall and winter for the Xbox One. The game isn’t available on the Xbox 360 and Microsoft hopes that gamers who haven’t picked up the console yet will just to get their hands on the first-person shooter. GameStop does offer bonuses for anyone that pre-orders Halo 5: Guardians there. Shoppers get the Helmet and Armor that Spartan Jameson Locke wears in the game.

Microsoft has its own chain of stores across the United States that offers Xbox One consoles, accessories and games. It’ll likely have a midnight Halo 5 release date event, but it’s not sharing details about it yet either.

The Microsoft Store is giving users that pre-order Halo 5: Guardians a $10 card to buy games, downloadable content and media in its Xbox Store. Buyers there also get a the Recon Assault Rifle with Energy Bayonet and a Long Range Assault Rifle Weapon Skin.

Halo 5: Guardians is the next chapter in the epic that started with Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo 5: Guardians Spartan Locke is sent to track down Master Chief John 117. It’s Locke’s assertion that John is a traitor. Assisting Locke is Fireteam Osiris. John 117 has pieced together Blue Team, members of his own generation of Spartans. The story has completely integrated co-operative multiplayer. Gamers can order members of their teams around or have friends take their place within the story.

Besides standard copies of the game, Microsoft has digital copies with bonuses available through the Xbox Store. There’s also a special edition Halo 5 Xbox One coming bundled with a digital copy of the game for $499.99. It’s available for pre-order at GameStop, Best Buy and the Microsoft Store too.
