Mobile Microsoft Project on a WM6 Device

Published

on

The timing on this is great.  I am in the middle of setting up a Microsoft Project server for my office and I read this yesterday about a mobile version of Project!  It could be old, could be new but I sure will be checking this out after everything is up and running on our server.

Anyone out there in GBM land use this before?  Seems like a great way to keep track of projects while out of the office.  Wonder if the features of running Project on a server will help this or hinder the usefulness of this application?  I’ll find out and let you know in a future post.

Oh, and if anyone has any tips for server based Project – I’m all ears!!

I’m curious if you actually got to check this in a Microsoft Project 2007 Server environment. I own an old copy of Pocketplan and used it a couple of years ago in a Microsoft Project 2005 (or 2003?) / WM5 setting. It was useful to have the information at hand, but I recall it having some limitations such as no support for included projects and a lengthly sync process. I used it in read-only mode on the mobile and never adventured to sync back to the *.mpp files.
I’m now setting up a Project Server, as you were a year ago and have a WM6.1 device. I’m glad to read in the Pocketplan change log that (after two years of inactivity!) version 3.01 “Added support for reading MSProject 2007 files.”
