Moto X Release Nears as Ads Highlight Key Features

As the Moto X release date approaches, we’re starting to see more and more news regarding the release with pre-order pages going live, and now new TV ads showing off some of the key features buyers can expect and enjoy once it arrives.

Earlier this month Motorola took the stage in Chicago and officially unveiled the all-new Moto X for 2014, a new Moto G, and the Moto 360 smartwatch for fans. Promising a release inside of the month of September, they’re now highlighting many features to gain attention from prospective buyers.

The Moto X went up for pre-order yesterday morning from Motorola’s website, and from AT&T, and now the company has released three TV ad spots (shown below) that you’ll want to check out. They’re wasting no time showing off the new 13 megapixel camera, improved hands-free voice commands using the always-listening feature, and much more.

The new Moto X features a dual LED ring flash.

This week we’ve detailed what buyers can expect from the release in the United States, and our hands-on video linked to below will show you everything you need to know about the new Moto X before it arrives.

However, Motorola wants to highlight everything the new phone can do before it hits shelves, to get consumers attention and make sure buyers know everything it has to offer once they spend their hard-earned money on the new flagship phone. It’s bigger than last year, better, faster, more customizable, and even has a better camera. These are all things we didn’t like from the original, and the ads below are worth checking out.

The first ad highlights the always-listening mode, which allows users to interact with the phone hands-free. This isn’t Siri or Google Now, but is Motorola’s own system that is extremely useful. It has the power of Google Now and search too, but we’ll just share the video and let you see it yourself.

Everything from hearing your itinerary for the day, replying to messages hands-free while driving, to even getting incoming messages read aloud.

Then continuing with some of the features from last year, the Moto X camera can be turned on with a quick flip of your wrist, rather than searching for the power buttons, unlocking the device, and finding the camera app. This allows users to quickly and easy capture any moment they’d like. Now on an even better 13 megapixel camera.

Motorola doesn’t have a dedicated shutter button either. Simply tap the screen and the fast auto-focus will focus on that point and snap a photo all in one take. Making for a quick, easy, and seamless camera experience. The original Moto X camera was decent, but left a little to be desired, and hopefully the improved 13 megapixel camera and dual “ring flash” system can deliver.

Last but not least is another ad highlighting the always listening mode, and hands-free voice controls using Moto Assist, an app that’s available now from the Google Play Store. Rather than wait for updates that rarely arrive, Motorola can improve this on the fly through the Play Store. It has a lot to offer already, and see it in action below.

Moto Assist will know when you’re driving, and instantly activate the hands-free mode for safe driving, and much much more. Check it out on the Google Play Store now.

So when can you enjoy all of these awesome new features of the Moto X for 2014? Soon. Yesterday pre-orders went live for AT&T, and we’re hearing Verizon will follow sometime in the next week. Rumors suggest the 25th is the Verizon Moto X release date, and we’ll be hearing more from Motorola soon.

The Moto X release date has essentially been confirmed for September 24th, as that’s when ordered from Motorola.com and AT&T’s pre-order sites will start to arrive for buyers. This makes perfect sense for AT&T’s units to start shipping. With Verizon, US Cellular, and Sprint all closely behind promising a release in the near future.
