Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich Update Delayed Until Q4

Motorola has officially delayed the Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update into the fourth quarter of this year which means it won’t arrive until October, November or December.

Just a day after the company told owners of the Droid Bionic that they got a raw deal with Ice Cream Sandwich, the company updated its Ice Cream Sandwich timeline. The timeline now shows the Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update coming in Q4 and not early Q3 or Q3 as was previously announced.

This means that it will arrive sometime in the next three months though Motorola hasn’t revealed which it will arrive in.

The Droid Bionic ICS update was delayed until Q4.

Clearly, this is not good news and not the news Droid Bionic owners, especially those that were growing impatient with Motorola and the lack of an update, wanted to hear.

However, it’s clear that the update was not ready to go and instead of pushing out a buggy update, Motorola chose to continue to work on it in order to iron things out.

This of course now puts even more pressure on Motorola. Owners will expect the update to be flawless when the software rolls out, that is, if it rolls out in Q4.

Motorola already missed one deadline, hopefully it doesn’t miss another.

The update comes a day after new Motorola’s new Vice President of Product, Punit Soni, said that Droid Bionic owners did indeed get a raw deal on Ice Cream Sandwich and that he promised more information soon.

Obviously, he didn’t give Droid Bionic owners the news they wanted today but at least Motorola didn’t wait until the very least day, like HTC did with the ThunderBolt and Droid Incredible 2, to announce the delay.

So, that means that Droid Bionic owners, what’s left of them, are going to have to tough it out on Android 2.3 Gingerbread until October at the earliest.

How does that sound Droid Bionic owners?
