Motorola Droid RAZR HD Again Said to Have Major Weakness

Published

on

If the new rumors are true, it’s looking more and more likely that the Motorola Droid RAZR HD will indeed have a major weakness on board when it arrives later this year.

Earlier today, we told you that Motorola Droid RAZR HD details leaked again. The new rumor also went as far as crushing the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD rumors that had surfaced earlier this week. Like any person with common sense, it was hard for me to believe the Droid RAZR MAXX HD in October rumor and I was not surprised to see it squashed.

The new rumors about the Droid RAZR HD, which will very likely be launching alone, corroborate earlier rumors we heard about the device.

The Droid RAZR HD may launch in October or November with ICS, not Jelly Bean.

It’s going to have a large HD screen – though we now have a specific size. It’s supposedly going to come with a 4.6-inch display. We again heard about the dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. The large 2,530 mAh battery. The 8MP camera. The October or November release date time frame.

And once again, we have heard that the device will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, something that I’ve already mentioned will be a glaring weakness.

Unfortunately, the situation is much dire this time around as it seems that the device won’t launch until October or November which leads me to believe that Motorola has either gone crazy or that it’s not going to be able to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ready in time for launch.

That just seems a bit silly to me considering Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was released in July and considering the fact that Motorola Mobility is owned by Google. I realize that Google has said that it wouldn’t interfere with Motorola but this is one case where it should.

This phone is going to have enough trouble as it is competing against the iPhone 5, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note 2, and the upcoming Nexus smartphone or smartphones which will run Jelly Bean, at the very least, right out of the box.

Putting Ice Cream Sandwich on board this device would be silly, dangerous, stupid, and the list of adjectives goes on.

I really hope Motorola and Verizon are not that stupid, that they have learned from their mistakes, that they know they already have to release something special here to have any kind of a chance at success.

I’m not holding my breath at this point though, especially when it appears that the Jelly Bean update won’t come to the Droid RAZR HD until, wait for it, 2013.

If this phone does arrive with ICS on board, will you buy it? Keep in mind, it generally takes Motorola and Verizon months to roll out major Android updates, even when they promise that it will roll out “early” or in the “coming weeks.”

Absolutely not. No JB, no jumbo battery and Verizon’s history of updates. No thanks. I’m still kicking myself for dropping TMobile and a GS2 and going with Verizon and a Maxx. l like the Maxx, but Verizon is way over rated especially for what they charge.

I’m 100% done buying Motorola anything. I’m an owner of the Bionic, needless to say we all know that story. My wife owns the RAZR Maxx and ICS upgrade on that was a blunder. Yes, we can all point the finger at Verizon’s poor software validation team but in the end it all starts with Motorola and their inability to produce a stable product to give to Verizon.
I would advise anyone to steer clear of Motorola products unless Google actually steps in to take control.

Google has already fired most of the people who drove Motorola into the ground. I just hope the new people can bring it back because they can make great phones.
Having said that, I think it is Verizon who is the the problem here. Have you ever seen any Verizon software that is worth a $hit? Why would anyone think that the same people who write this junk would be capable of testing software? More than likely, it is Verizon management who is to blame because they are more interested in expanding their network.
Another interesting fact about Verizon. I am single and have unlimited data with 450 minutes and 200 messages a month for $84.00. If I go to their shared data plan, I will pay $110 a month for unlimited minutes and text and 2GB a month. I use wifi most of the time but I have gone over 2GB a few times. If I keep my unlimited data and pay $700 for a new phone , I will break even in 15 months because the net price of the phone will be $400 (700 – 300). Did Verizon ever think that maybe they are really screwing single people or maybe they thought I wouldn’t notice? They have a great network and lousy management.

The problem isn’t Motorola contrary to popular belief. Look how quick Moto rolled out ICS and Jelly Bean to the wifi Moto Xoom 1? And Xoom 2 or xyboard still struggling to get ics? Moto can get the job done, But Verizon refuses to let them do it. Way to much testing from Greedy Verizon. Delaying updates for months on end.
