Motorola Xoom with 4G LTE Shows Off Impressive Data Speeds

Published

on

The Motorola Xoom‘s long awaited upgrade to 4G LTE is close. We know that for sure. Exciting times to be sure for those of you that have held onto your Honeycomb tablet since it was released in February. However, up until today, we hadn’t really had a clear glimpse of 4G LTE’s capabilities on the Xoom. We had heard it was working great but hearing about it and actually seeing it are two different beasts.

Today, we have a fantastic screenshot from a Xoom user who apparently is apparently using an upgraded Xoom as part of a private trial.

This screenshot shows off the blistering speeds of Verizon’s 4G LTE network on the Xoom. Notice the 4G icon on the screen and then take a look at the type of speeds this guy or gal is getting with his or her tablet.

We see 33mpbs download and 10mpbs upload. That is phenomenal and definitely should have all of you Xoom owners out there exciting for what September is going to bring. Of course, you’ll have to send your tablet in for the upgrade but that’s just a small price to pay for getting the boost up to these kinds of data speeds.

Xoom is virtually obsolete junk by now.  I know, I owned two for a while (wifi and the supposed “4G” model).  And how long has it been since they first started selling these as “4G” capable?  6 months?

Moto had their chance to dominate the Android tablet IF they had their act together.  But they didn’t and the Xoom flopped. But for being Honeycomb, it would have flopped as badly as HP’s Touchpad.

And why do you say it has flopped?  I continue to use my xoom, as it still has the the best Android tablet specs.  I still download apps from the Android market for it as well.  I read magazines and newspapers on it, watch great quality video on it, and play casual games on it.  May I ask what you are using now?  I’m calling your bluff – you owned 2 of them? really? – because the Xoom still is one of the best tablets available…

I second that. There seems to be so much of hatred and vitriol poured over the Xoom, but it seems to be coming mainly from the “early early” adopter bunch, who are not happy unless they always have the absolutely latest tech. Two months feel like a history.

The general consumer buys with at least two year time frame. A) Most of us don’t have the cash to be constantly on the cutting edge B) Can’t be bothered C) or are tied to lengthy contracts.

And whilst the Tab 10.1 might have a better screen and be marginally slimmer, the specs are not vastly different. With Samsung’s overlay I’d expect that Sammy will be even slower at releasing update past 3.1.

Notwithstanding on the international scene the Xoom is certainly enjoying better ride than the Tab 10.1 that has recently amidst a bit of controversy in Germany and Japan.

I am curious about some statistics of our Xoom 3G userbase and how many have actually received the 4G LTE update.
Verizon claims they are being made. I have yet to see or hear of a single instance.

Please take this quick survey and pass the link on to everyone you know through facebook, twitter, and any other means to get results. Thank you!https://svy.mk/qMUkJy
