New CrunchPad Prototype

Published

on

Techcrunch is showing off some photos of the CrunchPad, a slate device that it plans on formally launching sometime in July.
The team has moved away from a plastic case to an aluminum one to make it more sturdy and reduce thickness. It measures about 18mm thick.
Would you buy one of these things rather than a slate or other media consumption device made by an established manufacturer?
Techcrunch posted more info about the CrunchPad’s release in a blog post today.

If it plays hulu and stored videos hell yeah. If it doesn’t do either…. probably not, I don’t need a just internet device in my life right now.

I would buy one right away and get rid of the XT. I always wanted a no-keyboard touch screen. On the road a multitouch onscreen keyboard is more than enough. at home I would use a apple wireless keyboard. A docking station would be the last step to make me completly happy. I hope the will start to build and sell that thing.

Looks sleek and delicious – but it all comes down to battery life…

I can’t for the life of me figure out why 5 years ago NEC was able to make a tablet PC that was less than half an inch thick, and in the succeeding 5 years, no one else has.
