Nexus 4 16GB Shipping Times Reverse Course

Published

on

Just a day after the Nexus 4 16GB shipping times improved for the first time since the device’s reemergence on the Google Play Store, they have gotten much worse as the Google Play Store now lists the Nexus 4 16GB with the same shipping times as the Nexus 4 8B, both of which are now slated to ship out in two to three weeks.

Yesterday, the Nexus 4 16GB shipping times made an improvement over their initial time line. When both the 8GB Nexus 4 and 16GB Nexus 4 made their return to the Google Play Store last week, the devices were listed as shipping out in one to two weeks. Very quickly after that, the Nexus 4 8GB saw its shipping times pushed to two to three weeks where they stand right now.

The Nexus 4 16GB has seen its shipping times plummet today.

The Nexus 4 16GB on the other hand saw its shipping times get better yesterday as the device was listed as shipping out in less than a week. Sadly, it seems that that only lasted for a day as the Nexus 4 16GB is now listed as shipping out in two to three weeks, worse than it was listed at yesterday, and worse than what it initially arrived for.

Shipping times were much better yesterday.

As we have mentioned, the fact that it’s listed at shipping out in two to three weeks doesn’t necessarily mean that Google will take that long to ship it out. However, it does mean that there is a possibility that those who order it today won’t see it arrive until far later in the month of February.

The Nexus 4 still has a bit of a wait on the Google Play Store.

The increase wait times for the Nexus 4 come shortly after the device made its return to the Google Play Store after a lengthy absence. The device, which replaced the Galaxy Nexus back in November, went completely out of stock in early December and it didn’t come back into the Play Store until the end of January.

T-Mobile also experienced supply issues with its carrier-locked version of the Nexus 4 with stock seemingly moving in and out. Now though, T-Mobile seems to have gotten a handle on supply and other retailers including Best Buy are now selling the T-Mobile model.

Those looking to snag the unlocked version off the Google Play Store for cheap though now have a bit of a wait ahead of them with a possibility of shipping times progressively getting worse before they get better. Only time will tell however.

The shipping times are not actually bad, i ordered mine on Friday and got the confirmation of shipment today and it should be delivered this Friday, so if thats any indication Google is just being cautious in case another massive surge of orders.

There is no “carrier-locked version of the Nexus 4”. T-Mobile sells the same device as you can buy on Google Play, except their price is a lot higher (whether you buy it upfront, or pay with monthly installments).

I think google is doing a mess. When I looked at it on Google Play on monday it said “ships soon, less than a week”. I clicked on purchase and received my email confirmation which also said “ships soon, less than a week”. When looking at my GPlay orders there was a “Shipping estimate: February 13” which clearly is not “less than a week”.
But the funny part is that… while I was typing this comment I just received an email with my shipping confirmation, so probably I will get it on friday. I think Google is watching us O.o

It should be a lot earlier, mine was estimated for the 13th and it shipped on the 5th, they are just giving themselves the good chunk of time so people can’t complain about them being late on orders and are actually much earlier
