Nexus 4 8GB & 16GB Shipping Times Holding Firm

Published

on

After a little bit of a hiccup last week on the Play Store that saw the Nexus 4 8GB listed as ‘Temporarily Sold Out’ and the Nexus 4 16GB shipping times move to two to three weeks, it appears that Google now has a handle on the shipping situation as the 8GB model remains at two to three weeks while the 16GB variant recently dropped to one to two weeks.

Last week, we saw Google run into what appeared to be a bit of trouble, once again, with the Nexus 4 shipping times through the Google Play Store. The Nexus 4 was listed as out of stock, something not unfamiliar to the smartphone and before that, both the Nexus 4 8GB and Nexus 4 16GB had drifted into the two to three week shipping territory after being listed with faster shipping times in the days previous.

The Nexus 4, both the 8GB and 16GB, have seen steady shipping times.

However, despite a bit of panic from interested buyers, the shipping times are holding firm with the 16GB variant actually moving down to one to two weeks after a stint at two to three weeks.

This is fantastic news for those that might be gearing up to buy the Nexus 4 from the Google Play Store and the fact that the Nexus 4 hasn’t seen severe shipping times arrive yet is a sign that LG was telling the truth when it said that supply issues that were affecting the Nexus 4, since November, would be taken care of by mid-February.

LG had said that things would smooth out by the middle of this month and given that shipping times are not only holding firm but getting better, it looks like the worst days are behind the Nexus 4.

What’s more is that Google also finally released the Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb, the Nexus 4’s official wireless charger from LG that was announced back with the Nexus 4 in November but didn’t make it to shelves until just a short time ago.

Like the Nexus 4, Google is shipping out the Wireless Charging Orb extremely quickly with its shipping date estimated to be February 16th.

I also ordered a nexus 4 on Feb 10th, and mine says it should ship March 2.. I really hope that’s an overestimate of the actual time, because paying for 2 day shipping and having it arrive three weeks later is really depressing.

        That’s actually a really good point…
I didn’t even think of that when ordering the phone itself. Why would Google decide to charge us for 2 day shipping if there isn’t any stock to provide that pace of shipping.
I wonder if this could be changed.

I think that they do that so they don’t have to deal with the phone getting lost in transit.. Once it ships, it’ll get to you in two days.. But until then, there’s a lot of waiting. They also let you order it in advance because they were having problems with losing customers that couldn’t order the phone while it was out of stock.. I agree though, they shouldn’t make us pay for two day shipping when it will get to us after a month.

      Philaug,
How do you tell your shipping estimated date?
I ordered on Feb 6, and is still pending, and I do not see any shipping estimation on my order…
      Thank for a reply

If you look on the receipt that they email you, at the bottom it should say “see your Google play order history”. If you click the link you can find the ship date that’s next to the nexus 4 in the list.

        Hope that’s helpful

          Well, it doesn’t.
          the line reads:
NAME CATEGORY PRICE DATE STATUS OPTIONS
          Nexus 4 (16GB) DEVICES $349.00 February 6, 2013 Pre-ordered Info Help Center Cancel

the INFO and CANCEL words are links but they do not reveal any shipping estimation date

That’s weird, because under “status” mine says “Shipping estimate: March 2, 2013”.. maybe you should try emailing Google about it, because I couldn’t find my shipping date before either, then after I emailed them, it suddenly appeared.

          Olivia,
I reply on this msg as on the later one there is no “reply” link (I guess they just limit the depth of the msgs)

Well, suddenly I checked and it changed. 1st on Google wallet saying that Google received my order. Odd. After 8 days…
2nd, on Google play account it now says Shipping estimate: February 27, 2013. Well, this is 3 weeks exactly after placing a order on Feb. 6.

No like some sites saying that they shortened the waiting times.

          Thanks again
