Nexus 5 Leaks Again Ahead of Official Unveil

Published

on

With all the latest reports and rumors pointing to an announcement of the new Nexus 5 tomorrow, we’re still getting more and more details almost daily. The upcoming LG Nexus 5 smartphone has seen its share of leaks, and if you’ve been waiting for even more following the excellent 7 minute video we shared this weekend, you’ll want to check out today’s latest leak.

This afternoon we’re getting another set of four images showing off Google’s latest smartphone, and this one comes to us by way of a lucky Russian named Anton Kuznetsov who happens to have the device in hand. In what appears to be a nearly finished product this model has the familiar “Nexus” branding on the rear and all, something that was missing in the latest round of pictures of videos.

After watching the prototype on video this weekend we were all hoping for a more official looking device to appear, and this is exactly that. While there’s nothing extremely new on display we didn’t already know or have seen in the past, it’s another confirmation things are ready to roll, and Google could be making an announcement any day now.

We see the white notification text, which means it’s running Android 4.4 KitKat. Then you’ll see the Nexus logo, and a nice side profile view of the phone showing the power and volume buttons off to the right side. One thing we can take away from the images is the device is always on a charger (bad sign) and it also looks like a fingerprint magnet with that soft touch matte back design.

Lastly to confirm most of what we already know. The Nexus 5 will sport a 5-inch 1080p full HD display, a quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, and reportedly come in both a 16 and 32GB of storage option. With the larger of the two also adding a bigger 3,000 mAh battery for $299 and $399 respectively. If the recent rumors are correct, Google should be making some noise and announcing this new smartphone and Android 4.4 KitKat this week. Possibly as soon as tomorrow.
