Nexus 6P vs LG G4: Camera & Battery

This year Google finally made marked improvements to two areas of concern for any Nexus owner. The camera and battery life. At the same time, these are two pretty bright spots for the LG G4 at the same time. As a result, both are great, but one is a clear winner.

The Nexus 6P has a massive 3,450 mAh battery (LG G4 is only 3,000) which should last much longer, and it has a great camera as well. The LG G4 has an extremely fast f/1.8 16 megapixel camera, but the 6-core Snapdragon 808 processor limits its capabilities.

The Nexus 6P has a similar laser auto-focus camera, but only 12.3 megapixels, and no image stabilization. But, there's a huge 1.55 um sensor that lets in enough light that shutters are quick, and image stabilization "isn't needed" according to Google. We haven't tried it ourselves, but an independent camera review website DxOMark, scored the Nexus 6P the second best camera phone, even without image stabilization. The Nexus 6P is ahead of the iPhone 6, LG G4, and many others. The only camera that beats it, is Samsung's latest phones, but we're hearing a recent Sony phone now has the top spot.

The LG G4 still has a top 5 camera in any mobile phone, and takes some amazing photos, but users may get slightly better results from Google's new phone. Add in a big battery that lasts longer, and fast charging, and you'll start to see where the Nexus 6P is pulling ahead. If the stock Android and aluminum design wasn't enough already.

No wireless charging. Who cares? A plug-in charger out performs a wireless charger any day.

The LG G4’s camera software is so much better.
