Nexus 7 2 Update Fixes Two Major Flaws

Published

on

Two of the biggest flaws affecting the Nexus 7 2 are being addressed today with a new Nexus 7 update that is aimed at tackling the touchscreen issues and GPS issues that owners have been battling since the device came out back in July.

In early August, complaints about the device’s touchscreen started pouring out of owners of the Nexus 7 2. We found that it was over sensitive to the point that it was difficult to drag icons without keeping a finger perfectly still.

Other users reported that the display would register double presses on the keyboard and ghost taps where a touch wasn’t made at all.

Soon, it became clear that this was a problem that was not just affecting a small group of Nexus 7 owners but a large swath of those that purchased Google’s new tablet, a tablet that once again was manufactured by Asus.

Fortunately, it looks like Google took notice of the issue as Google has confirmed that the Nexus 7 will be getting an update to fix those touchscreen issues. The confirmation was made on Google’s product forums and the company claims that the software is rolling out to Nexus 7’s to address the problem. There is no elaboration so it’s unclear if the update is aimed directly at this issue or if there are other things on board as well.

We still haven’t seen the update hit our Nexus 7 and so the update is likely going to be rolling out slowly for owners of Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet. When available, users should be prompted to download and install the new software and once installed, the touchscreen experience will hopefully be a much better one than before.

Of course, the touchscreen issues were not the only problems affecting owners. Nexus 7 2 owners have also complained about issues with the device’s GPS wherein the service will work for several minutes before losing connection and going back into “Searching Mode.” Others are saying that it’s not working at all. Google now says that the GPS issue has been fixed as well.

Problems with Nexus devices is nothing new. Google’s original Nexus 7 was marred by issues and Nexus owners have been complaining about bugs within Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest Android update.

Lucky for Nexus owners, Google has been fairly swift at addressing at least some of the bugs that have cropped up in recent weeks.

Well done Google on getting the fix out so quickly. Most people weren’t affected by either issue but it’s good to know that Google are so quick to sort out problems.

I purchased it and returned it ..there was a fluttering issue plus WiFi signal issues and all in all I wasn’t impressed by the upgraded model. For a higher price..sure the resolution is great but if other things are a miss it went make sense..

Apple had similar issues with the mini. All the hype and build up of a device that should be near perfect . ..did have major issues as well.

Samsung tabs,Kindle fire, and a few other I own never have those issues.
    Go figure?
