Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat Updates Confirmed

The Android 4.4.3 KitKat release is imminent and should arrive today for owners of the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Nexus 5.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat rumors have been swirling since March. And while Google and several of its partners have all but confirmed the update for arrival, we still haven’t seen the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release take place. That could change soon if new information from an American carrier is accurate.

Shortly before Apple took the stage at WWDC 2014 to announce the new iOS 8 update for iPhone and iPad, T-Mobile announced that the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates would both arrive at some point today bringing bug fixes and security enhancements to owners of the two Nexus flagships.

While we haven’t seen the two updates emerge, that hasn’t stopped T-Mobile from posting another Android 4.4.3 KitKat upgrade to the software support portion of its website.

It now appears that the Nexus 4 Android 4.4.3 KitKat release is imminent as well. T-Mobile says that the update is scheduled to roll out today and that it will also deliver a mixed bag of fixes and enhancements to owners of Google’s former Nexus flagship. T-Mobile’s confirmations seemed legit and now, we have the proof that we were looking for.

Google just posted the Android 4.4.3 KitKat factory images and binaries to its Developer site and that means that the Android 4.4.3 KitKat release should be taking place today. The website not only confirms Android 4.4.3 KitKat for the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi and LTE), it also confirms an upgrade for the Samsung-made Nexus 10.

Now that these files have been released, it should only be a matter of time before Google starts pushing out the OTAs to Nexus users. Google’s OTA updates typically take a week or so to push out which means that Nexus owners are going to want to remain patient. Those that are impatient should be able to install the updates manually once the files are found on Google’s servers.

The roll out will apply to owners of Nexus devices across carriers which means those that use the Nexus 5 on Sprint and T-Mobile will be subject to the same roll out. Same goes for variants on other carriers in other parts of the world.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat is also expected to arrive for a number of non-Nexus devices including Google’s stable of Play Edition devices, the Moto X, the HTC One M8, the HTC One M7, the Samsung Galaxy S5, and the Galaxy S4 LTE-A. Change logs for those devices aren’t clear though the updates will almost certainly alleviate many of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems that have cropped up in the months since the update was released.

This new Android 4.4.3 KitKat update drops just a few weeks before Google takes the stage at Google I/O in San Francisco. Rumors continue to point to a Nexus 8 release later on this year though rumors have pointed to an arrival outside of Google’s developer event in June.

Is it available on other carrier apart from Sprint and T-Mobile? I am glad to know that the roll out is going to start soon. I am facing camera bug in my Nexus 5 from last 4 successive months, which is the main reason for its quick battery drainage issue. To overcome this issue I recently installed a wireless car charger so that I keep its battery fully charged while navigating across the expressways or highways in my car.
