Nexus 9 Release Continues with New Color Option

Published

on

This morning, Google’s impressive Nexus 9 tablet is available in the exclusive “sand” color option the company showed off when first announcing the tablet back in October. The Nexus 9 release has continued for months with the 4G LTE variant launching in December, and now a new color.

Back in October Google announced the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player all with Android 5.0 Lollipop, and since then users have patiently been waiting to get their hands on all of the above. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are available now in some regions, and now those who want a different look can get it.

Google’s brand new Nexus 9 tablet has been available for just over two months since being released in early November, and until today we had no details regarding the exclusive gold “sand” color. This morning without any announcement it has arrived on the Google Play Store, but only in the 32GB flavor.

When Google announced the Nexus 9 back in October the company promised the impressive new tablet would come in three different color options, two storage configurations, and a 4G LTE model for those needing additional connectivity. However, only a 16 and 32GB model arrived in Black or White, with no higher storage choices or the Sand color they were so proudly displaying.

After searching around HTC confirmed the Sand color option, as well as the 4G LTE model, were both behind schedule and wouldn’t be released until a later date, with most reports suggesting it wouldn’t launch until late December.

A month later and now T-Mobile is offering the 4G LTE Nexus 9, but no other carriers have made formal announcements. However, a 4G LTE 32GB Black model is also available from the Google Play Store.

For now the brand new Nexus 9 Sand color variant is only available in the more expensive 32GB version, and not 16GB, and from what we’ve been hearing it will only be available in 32GB as an exclusive top-tier model. That said, we could see availability open up if it’s in demand, but that’s doubtful.

As a quick reminder the Nexus 9 comes with a beautiful 8.9-inch HD display, dual front facing speakers, a soft touch matte back design (now in goldish sand color) and aluminum bezel, and runs the latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with a 64-bit processor.

Google is offering the new Sand variant for the same price as regular models, being $479 for the 32GB tablet. If the color isn’t important or you aren’t a fan of the Sand Nexus 9, Amazon is currently offering the other two for $50 off.

We don’t know how many Nexus 9 units in the Sand color option are available, so if you’re interested in buying one you better act fast. Head to the Google Play Store and check it out yourself.
