For several months, we saw Nexus 9 rumors go back and forth, benchmarks and early images leak and more, but Google’s silenced all the rumors with the official unveiling this morning. Confirming the HTC Nexus 9 release, a device that’s to take on Samsung’s tablet lineup and the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Minis.

Nexus 9

Google didn’t just announce the new Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Android 5.0 Lollipop, they also confirmed many other details buyers will want to know. Things like the Nexus 6 will be available from all five major US carriers, and that you’ll be able to buy both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 starting in early November. Lets take a look at all the details.

Before we go over all the details, specs, and features once more, you’ll want to know when, where, and for how much.

Nexus 9 Pre-Orders

The Nexus 9 isn’t available quite yet, but the wait won’t be long. Google’s confirmed the HTC Nexus 9 will go up for pre-order starting on October 17th (this Friday) and start shipping in the coming weeks. We don’t have an exact date for shipping yet, but will be learning all the details in the coming days, or come October 17th when shipping estimates are given to those who order.

So far there aren’t any exact details on the date they’ll start shipping, but we can guess that will be right around November 1st with them arriving on November 3rd, which is a Monday.

Nexus 9 Release Date

The Nexus 9 release date is officially November 3rd in the United States. This was confirmed by Google earlier today, although they didn’t give exact details regarding pricing, availability, or locations. Obviously the Nexus 9 will be available from the Google Play Store, but earlier reports and rumors suggest Best Buy stores and online, Office Depot/Max type locations, Amazon.com and more will all be offering up Google’s new tablet come Monday November 3rd.

Last year the Nexus 7 sold out almost immediately on the Google Play Store, and this year Google looks to be taking a completely different approach. Allowing weeks of pre-orders to go in before the release date, then dropping the tablet for the masses from an array of outlets both online, and brick and mortar stores. This hopefully means the new tablet will be much easier for buyers to get their hands on, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Nexus 9 Price

Sadly while Google unveiled tons of information this morning about the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Android 5.0 Lollipop, updates for other devices and much more, they didn’t share exact pricing details. However, a few leaks have suggested budget friendly Nexus devices are a thing of the past.

Earlier this week leaks arrived confirming the November 3rd release date, ones which also suggested the Nexus 9 will be $399 for the 16GB model, and $499 for the 32GB version. However, the leak above states $399, $489, and over $569 for the 32GB 4G LTE option.

The Verge suggests the pricing will be $399, $499, and $599 with the 32GB 4G LTE model and “Sand” color option both arriving later this year, and not November 3rd. We’ve reached out to Google for clarification, and will update once we learn exact release date and pricing for all models.

The Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 will both be in stores from T-Mobile starting November 12th, by the way.

Nexus 9 Accessories

While Nexus accessories have never been extremely popular, or easy to find, the past year Google’s done a much better job offering official options for their smartphones and tablets. The HTC Nexus 9 will be no different.

Google and HTC are releasing a keyboard attachment that will “magnetically attach to the Nexus 9, folds into two different angles and rests securely on your lap like a laptop.” This is essentially an origami-type case that has a built-in bluetooth keyboard, and in a way will be taking on both the Microsoft Surface and the huge selection of 3rd party iPad Air keyboard cases all in one take.

We’ve yet to hear of any other accessories or cases, but we can expect more and more to arrive from 3rd party manufacturers, and possibly some cases, covers, and sleeves to hit the Google Play Store early next month.

Nexus 9 with 4G LTE

As we briefly mentioned above, the Nexus 9 will come in three different versions and three different colors. Those being a 16GB WiFi, 32GB WiFi, and a 32GB WiFi+4G LTE variant. Colors will be Black, White, and a Sand color that looks somewhat like gold.

We’re hearing the 4G LTE model won’t arrive on October 17th for pre-order, and won’t be available on the November 3rd release date, but that’s yet to be confirmed. A few sources suggest it will arrive a few weeks later, but T-Mobile’s already confirmed its 4G LTE Nexus 9 will be in stores November 12th.

The 4G LTE Nexus 9 is reportedly going to cost anywhere from $569 to $599, but again, that isn’t confirmed either. We’re hearing both the 4G LTE Nexus 9 and the Sand color option won’t be available until late November, so we’ll have to wait and see.

The Nexus 9 has bands capable of enjoying 4G LTE speeds on T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular, so should be widely available from carriers sometime in November.
