Nokia Lumia 900 Release Date Pegged for April 8th

Published

on

Last week we heard a nasty rumor regarding AT&T’s first 4G LTE Windows Phone, the Nokia Lumia 900. It seemed as though the device had been pushed back to April and that it wouldn’t be launching until April 22nd. A new rumor disputes that however as a forum poster, who claims to work for AT&T, says that the device will be launching much earlier in the month on April 8th.

April 8th is apparently going to be the day that the Lumia 900 goes on sale online while April 9th will be the date that the phone goes on sale in physical retail locations.

This is clearly better news for those that are hoping to get their hands on the device that we awarded Best in Show at CES 2012 but until we get confirmation from AT&T, Nokia or Microsoft, we’re still in the dark.

Nokia Lumia 900 Release Date Pegged for April 8th

Here is the full comment from the person who supposedly works at the carrier:

“I’m an assistant manager with an att store in California. We are gearing up for the Nokia lumia launch and were going all out. cant say much more but its tentative for April 8 as far as I understand. I And other sales reps are having mandatory trainings on the Nokia 900 soon and that usually means its launching shortly after. You don’t have to believe me but just giving you a heads up. I think early reports said April 18th so its a little earlier than that. Cant wait! we got the demo in last week and I’ve been very impressed with the phone. Its a sexy b—. As far as colors go we are only getting black and cyan. the white one will come when the phone performs well, like we did with the sky rocket “

Key word, tentative. So yes, things could certainly change.

Originally, we thought that the device was going to launch in March, this according to a developer newsletter that came out back in January.

We had heard March 18th was the target release date and that the Lumia 900 would be arriving with an extremely affordable price tag in an effort to better position itself against the likes of Android and the iPhone.

We’re talking $99.99 on-contract cheap.

That price was again mentioned with that April 22nd release date rumor but it was not mentioned here with the new date.

The Lumia 900 figures to be a solid option for those that don’t want an Android or an iOS device and you can check it out in action below:

Needless to say, a release will hopefully come sooner rather than later.

The “Mobile Oracles” have spoken yet again, I suppose if it does not show up on the 8th the headlines will read “Nokia 800 delayed again”.

Meh, I was turned off by the delay.  So I got the HTC Titan while it was 1c.   The only thing Lumina 900 has over Titan is LTE.   Same front and rear facing camera MegaPixels.

    I can live with HSPDA+.

Are you liking the Titan? I’m waiting for mine to be delivered today.

I love my Titan, but I am not an AT&T customer, so it’s mostly WiFi usage for me.

This last Saturday I went to the AT&T Store in Eden Prairie, MN. I asked them about the Lumia 900 and 2 employees said a Nokia Sales Rep was in the store earlier that day and was showing all the employees the phone. They also said the Nokia Rep said the release date is April 15th.

went to at&t today and they told me that they werent given a date yet, but that it should be “soon.” If it doesnt come out in the next couple weeks, im just going to buy the iphone 4s and call it a day. apple announces the new ipad and like a week later its being sold in stores. nokia cant bring a phone to market in months….

The lumia is a horrible phone and has all the antiquated features that all the windows devices have. I would rather rip the guts out of it and turn it into an android phone. Yet another failed attempt for Nokia. Battery also gets very hot with basic use. No flash support.

Are you referring to the Lumia 900? I am guessing not.

I detest the phone. Windows has a very poor app base unless you like to pay for everything decent. Android is much more open and friendly. Plus most apps are free and awesome. I am on 4g and it seems very slow when surfing. It can’t access flash enabled sites. Tried using the YouTube app and I gave up, tried to watch a 50 second video and after 10 minutes it loaded 5 seconds, while on 4g. Go back to the drawing and build a good device on the android market.

April 8th.. Will that become a figment of our imagination as did March 18th?

Lumina Vaporware.. The 18th came and went and No Lumina 900
from Nokia… Just another way to tick off potential customers and loose
    market.

Several commercial entities are reported to have waited
until March 18th and when the phone did not produce itself, (Surprise.. Isn’t
this how Nokia blew it sales several years ago with other vaporphones)  have re-up’d their two year contracts with
different models. Leaking a date to hype up marketing and failing to follow
through with that date is the best way to lose loyalty and potential customers.
You would have thought Nokia would have learned its lesson by now but obviously
it did not…. Now all these geeks *me included) that had to have a new phone
and held out with superglue, duct tape, or older models snagged up from ebay as
temp devices were left with no other choice but to re-up their contracts with
different phones. Way to lose customer loyalty and a potential comeback in to
the market Nokia…. Fail. SO Nokia, at the least before you cause yourself
more damage and humiliation, push an official press release to announce launch
date before you push away more potential customers..

What should have been your reclaim to fame is not in the IT
world being looked at as how will Nokia handle this damage control from this
    new disaster….

The glory is over, and the vaporware phone damage for the
phone that did not release on reported dates falters and damage control begins…
Nokia, listen, You have completely turned off a large group of potential
customers, and the longer you hold private, the real release date (if there is
even a Lumina 900 to be sold, who knows at this point) the more customers and
    potential buyers you will lose…..

Not following through with touted release dates, does not
make smartphone users WANT to wait longer. It makes them resentful and makes
them want to immediately switch product brands.. Apparently Nokia still hasn’t
    figured that out…
