Nokia Lumia 925 Becomes Second AT&T Lumia to Get Lumia Black Update

AT&T is still taking its time to approve the Lumia Black update for its Windows Phones, however the company is at least giving some users the opportunity to experience the update without joining Windows Phone’s early update preview program or buying a new phone. The United States’ second largest mobile carrier has begun updating Lumia 925 devices on its network to the latest software update from Nokia.

Ironically, AT&T didn’t announce the update’s deployment formally. Instead, the Lumia Black update’s arrival was telegraphed by a switch in status on Nokia’s update tracking page. Until yesterday the page had shown the Lumia 925 update as “waiting for approval”. As of now that status has been changed to simply “available.”

Lumia 925 owners can expect the Lumia Black update to add a few key features to their device. For one, Lumia Black introduces Bluetooth LE. This allows the Lumia 925 to use low-powered Bluetooth connections to communicate with Bluetooth LE enabled wearables while not negatively effecting battery life in a big way.

The update also includes the Nokia Refocus app that allows users to focus on objects in pictures they’ve already taken. There’s also the new Nokia Camera app, a combination of the Nokia Pro Camera and Smart Camera apps that Nokia used to make available separately.  Nokia says Lumia Black also includes refreshed algorithms that cut down on the amount of ruined pictures caused by excessive noise in low light and more. New options for surfacing more notifications when the Lumia 925’s screen is off are also included in the update.

Unfortunately for other users, the news for other Lumia Windows Phones is still bleak. Of all the smartphones waiting for the update, only the Lumia 1020 on AT&T and the Lumia 925 on AT&T are rolling out. All other devices, including T-Mobile’s version of the Lumia 925 are still waiting for approval.  As such, there’s no telling when these other phones will get it. It is worth noting that Lumia Black comes pre-installed on the Nokia Lumia 1520.

AT&T Lumia 925 owners should head to their phone’s Settings app and open the Phone Update utility to see if their Lumia 925 is ready to be updated.

What a bleak and depressing reviewer….

It seems he is out of touch with mainstream reviewers who now acknowledge the 1020 has the best low light lowest noise – even the old version.

The behaviour of trying to focus on any weak point to discredit its obvious leadership worked for a while. People have caught on to the lies,

Why dont you try focussing on the great points thereby motivating all of the
ecosystems to keep up, so we all get better phones.
