Nokia Not Launching Windows Phone 7 Handset on August 17th

An earlier invitation sent out as a joint press event between Nokia and Microsoft for August 17th at a game conference in Cologne, Germany had led many to speculate that the date may be the official unveiling of Nokia’s debut Windows Phone 7 handset, codenamed Sea Ray. However, as it turns out, sources to This is my next say that the August 17th date won’t be the debut date for Sea Ray. Instead, the two companies may use the event to network with developers to build apps and develop compelling game titles for Windows phone 7 Mango.

This is my next speculates that Nokia may have production-ready units of Sea Ray available to show, but an official introduction won’t happen then. Instead, Nokia may wait until its annual Nokia World conference in the Fall to formally introduce its first Windows Phone handset to the public.

Additionally, CTIA may be yet another venue where Sea Ray may be introduced for the U.S. market.
