Ohh Noooo! No iPhone 5

Published

on

That sound you hear is coming from all over the place is in response to Apple choosing not to announce the highly anticipated iPhone 5 today at its big unveiling. That’s right. There is no iPhone 5. Yet. I’m sure we’ll have one down the road. But Apple looks to following its path. Remember the iPhone 3. Then the iPhone 3G. We’ll, I’m guessing next year we’ll see the iPhone 5 or whatever it will be called.

Word actually leaked out ahead of time and Apple’s Japanese site began showing only pictures of an iPhone 4S sort of confirming what most already had been hearing. As this news is just breaking officially, it will be interesting to see how much control Apple retains of its message about iOS5, the iPhone4S, and other things.

Will the press and bloggers lead with headlines saying that Apple failed to deliver an iPhone 5? Will that news dominate coverage? Will the markets punish Apple more than they usually do on launch news?

We’ll have to wait and see. Or we could just ask Siri, When will see and iPhone 5?

Completely agree with Jesse.  I have an iPad 2 and LOVE it.  I was totally planning on getting an iPhone when my contract was up, but after this announcement, no thanks.  I’ll stick with Android as the preferred OS of my phoning needs.

That thunderous “WHOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGG” sound you are hearing is the collecive air flowing out of the Apple balloon. Spin it all you want Mr. Cook, but Apple was roundly thrashed for the 3G to 3Gs debacle, and they are going to catch it here too. In fact, all those 3Gs owners who have been holding out all this time for the next great thing, the iPhone 5, should beware teh Irish proverb: “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.”  Thanks to the Amazon Kindle, consumers last week learned that others can play the tablet game, and the programming wonks at Google must be cheering the opportunity for the same thing now in smartphones.

Epic fail is right…look at how the Apple stok has lost more than 10% of its value since last Thursday…

This totally bites. I’ve been holding on to my crumbling original iphone years out of contract, waiting for a larger screen that would allow me to use the damn thing without my cheaters on. Rum news indeed.

i don’t understand you guys that hang on to your iphones waiting and waiting for the right phone to come along.  what you don’t understand is that with the high resale value of an iphone, it actually makes sense to upgrade your iphone as opposed to waiting until it no longer has any resale value.  a used iphone holds approximately 70% of its price after a year, and 30% after two years.  i know this because i live in hong kong.  so basically, if you’re willing to sign a contract to get your new iphone, you could actually profit by selling your old iphone.

this is what i did when i was in canada and upgraded from the 3G to the 3GS: signed contract to buy 3GS for $299 on contract with Rogers, sold 3G on craigslist for $450.  came out with a 3GS and $150 in my pocket.

Actually, I am kinda glad they screwed the pooch. Now I will be more than happy to get a droid and sever all ties from Apple (and that god-awful iTunes.) Liberating really.

Hmm. I wonder if spec’s matter now, cause that what the 4s looks like to me. An upgrade of specs.

Looks like Apple wants to make a ton of $$$ before they release the iphone5 I’m sure it will come out shortly after. Android rules anyway, money hungry apple charges you for every little app out there greedy @ssholes $$$ Ton of free apps on the android mkt. even to customize your phone to your liking. With apple you get what it comes with.

Ha too funny!   I think the screen size is going to be a killer.   Most people have no idea what an A5 Processor is.  It’s like going to have a new Chevy and it hasn’t changed in 5 years, expect the ride, engine, stereo, but it still looks like the same car!

I think people want a new outside look now for each phone they buy.  Time will tell I guess.

Just want to say to all the idiotic apple lemmings….Told you so.  Android will hit 65% marketshare this year while apple dips to 25% or less.

C’mon! Everbody knows the iPhone 5 was supposed to come out with the 4$, but Apple pulled it back due to Job’s health and to take advantage of the 4$ sales numbers. Wait until December 1 or March 1. By the way, it will only be a bigger phone 4.3″

Do you people not think that the manufacturers and carriers not have data indicating when large blocks (3 month segments) of carrier contracts expire? This isn’t rocket science … why make products available during an period that is not ripe with opportunity and that manufacturing cannot meet expectations. Keep the consumer hungry and don’t give away what you can charge full price for.Remember, I was the one that broke the Zune phone (e.g. Windows Mobile) 2 years before it was available. Unfortunately, Zune was never a WM brand named phone … but it will be soon.
