Order Online, Pickup at the Apple Store Coming Soon

Published

on

Apple is set to join retailers like Best Buy, and begin offering online ordering with in store pickup at the Apple stores.

The program, known internally as Sherwood, will allow shoppers to place an order online and pickup the item at a local Apple store.

Sources tell MacRumors that this would include the entire stock of the online Apple store, including personalized products, all online Apple accessories and build to order Mac notebooks.

This has been a long time coming, and offers a number of benefits to shoppers.

  • In Stock products available for pickup on the same day.
  • Designate a pickup person.
  • Avoid ruining holiday surprises
  • No more waiting for UPS.
  • No more waiting for your free shipping on many items.

Apple store pickup coming soon.

The new program is not yet live, but it is expected to launch soon. When live, you can place your order online and likely from your iPhone, and pick it up in the store in a few days.

To pickup your item, you will need proof of purchase and a valid ID. If you are having a friend or family member pick it up (for those of us who live farther away), you can set them as a designated pickup person.

Another one of the benefits of this new program is the ability to make in store returns of online purchases. This means faster returns and no One item shipping for Apple.

This program is expected to roll out to select store soon, and company wide if all goes smoothly. Apple currently allows you to reserve in store stock of an item, but you were limited to the base configurations of Mac products.

Will you make use of this service when it goes live?
