In terms of protection the OtterBox Resurgence case sits somewhere between the OtterBox Defender and the OtterBox Commuter lines at first glance. There is no soft rubber outer layer like the Defender cases use, but there is a nice lip on the front of the phone to keep the screen safe during drops and the whole case and iPhone 6 combination feels like one single piece of tech.

The case snaps on tight, and it is actually very hard to get off. This is good news if you drop the iPhone 6, but it is a pain if you want to switch cases. Thankfully the OtterBox Resurgence case supports pass through connectivity so you don’t need to remove it from the case to sync to a computer or to connect to a car. Just use any Micro USB cable, including the very nice cable that ships with the case to sync or play music just like you would with a Lightning cable.

A small lip protects the screen, but there is no screen protector.

OtterBox covers the buttons with a soft rubber material that make them easy to press and there is a handy slider switch to handle the mute switch. Nothing covers the iPhone screen or the home button. The raised edges are beveled inward so it is still possible to use the swiping gestures that make the iPhone 6 and iOS 8 much easier to use.

Due to the placement of the Lightning connection and headphone jack on the bottom of the case some headphones require the included adapter to function. Apple headphones and other small plugs work without the adapter. The case ports the speakers to the front, amplifying them slightly and directing the audio at you so it is easier to hear.

The iPhone 6 OtterBox Resurgence case is an incredible battery case that offers a great deal of protection. The $99 is less than the $119 price of the iPhone 6 Mophie Juice Pack Plus, another great battery case that also offers a lot of protection.
