Panasonic is looking to take the crown in the camera phone market with its latest introduction, the Lumix P-05C, which boasts 13.2 megapixels, a wide angle lens, and also optical image stabilization, the latter of which is a first for the camera phone segment.

The 13.2 megapixels best the Nokia N8, which sports a 12 megapixel sensor. However, as the Lumix P-05C doesn’t sport a smartphone operating system, the Nokia N8 may still hold onto its title as the best smartphone camera on the market. The camera will also allow users to capture videos in 1080p HD resolution.

With optical image stabilization, this camera phone will ensure that your images are not dampened by shaky hands. Also, the 27mm wide angle lens is also the widest angle lens on a mobile phone.

Other photography features that the Lumix Phone P-05 borrows from its Panasonic digicam cousins include the iAuto mode for automatic scene recognition with 11 presets and burst mode, which captures 8 consecutive frames and lets you choose one of them.

The phone has a 3.3-inch display, though Panasonic still has not announced what resolution the screen will sport. The phone will be available in Japan on NTT DoCoMo in white, black, and magenta. The device will probably not hit the U.S. market.
