Pebble Time Round Release Date Arriving This Weekend

The Pebble Time Round release date has been announced, and the new smartwatch will be arriving this weekend.

Pebble announced and unveiled its new Pebble Time Round smartwatch late in September as the company’s latest addition to its smartwatch lineup. Pebble already has the Pebble Time and the Pebble Time Steel, but the company wants to attract the consumers who prefer a round design for their wrist timepieces.

Pebble also claims that this new wearable is the world’s lightest and thinnest smartwatch, measuring in at 7.5mm thin and weighing only 28 grams.

As with Pebble’s other smartwatches, the Pebble Time Round comes with an e-ink display that allows the wearable to get up to two days of battery life, and the device also keeps the same large bezel around the display, despite it being enclosed in a round case.

However, the Pebble Time Round joins a very short list of smartwatches currently on the market that have round displays, with the Moto 360 and the new Huawai Watch being some other popular models that are available. Most of the smartwatches that you can buy have square displays, so it’s nice to see that there are a growing number of wearables that are bucking that trend.

Pebble announced today that the Pebble Time Round release date is finally set, over a month after the watch’s initial reveal.

The Pebble Time Round will release on November 8, which is the day that orders will go live online, and Best Buy and Target stores in the US will have the watch in stock and ready to purchase.

If you’d rather buy it online, you’ll be able to do so on Amazon, BestBuy.com, Target.com, and Pebble’s own website. However, Pebble’s website shows a 2-4 week backorder, so it maybe best to look elsewhere if you want to buy it online.

For those who pre-ordered the Pebble Time Round, you won’t get your units any earlier than normal, as the company says that pre-order shipments will begin going out on November 8 as well.

The Pebble Time Round watchcase only comes in one size, but you can choose how big you want the watch strap, as they come in either 20mm or 14mm sizes (no universal 22mm size, unfortunately). However, you can get straps in different colors, including Stone leather, Nero Black leather, White leather, Nubuck Brown leather, and Flame Red.

As for the watchcase color selection, you’ll have your choice between black, silver, and rose gold. Unfortunately, you can’t mix and match when you buy the watch, but you can buy a strap separately if you’re looking for a specific combination.

The Pebble Time Round will be available in five default combinations:

  • Silver with white bezel and Stone leather 14mm strap
  • Rose Gold with white bezel and White leather 14mm strap
  • Black watch/bezel and Flame Red 14mm strap
  • Black watch/bezel and 20mm Nero Black leather strap
  • Silver watch with white bezel and Nubuck Brown leather 20mm strap

In the end, the Pebble Time Round is for folks who want a smartwatch that looks more like a traditional timepiece around their wrist. The square smartwatches like the Apple Watch can stick out like a sore thumb of sorts, which can be great if you want to show it off, but if you’d rather stay on the down-low with your wrist wear, the Pebble Time Round aims to create that effect.

The new smartwatch is priced at $249, which is $100 less than the entry-level Apple Watch model, making it a slightly better purchase if you’re a frugal shopper, but it doesn’t have quite as many features as the Apple Watch and won’t have that seamless iOS integration that you’ll get with Apple’s own wearable.
