Pelican i1015 iPhone Case Review: Ready for Drops, Water and More

Published

on

If you need an iPhone case that can handle your active lifestyle, the Pelican i1015 may be a good choice. This isn’t a slim case by any means, but if you like to take your iPhone hiking, biking and to the beach this is a good option.

For about $20 you get a water-resistant, dustproof, crushproof case that protects your iPhone and other small smartphones from dying from a drop or from brief contact with water.

The Pelican i1015 includes a headphone jack that connects inside the sealed area to a swiveling connection on the exterior so that your phone can be kept safe while you listen to music or take a phone call.

The case is not waterproof like the Drycase iPad case we reviewed earlier this year which is made to go in the water, but it can handle a light dip, like say being dropped into a puddle. The idea here isn’t to give you a case you can swim with, but one that can survive accidental, brief exposure to water.

We tested the case out in a 6 foot drop to the floor and by dropping it into a sink of water at our favorite coffee shop.

The Pelican i1015 case is designed to work with the iPhone, but it will fit similar size phones. We could fit the Droid 3 in it, but the rubber seal pressed the volume down button so we couldn’t listen to music. The Xperia Play fit inside, but wouldn’t connect to the headphone jack and keep a seal. Pelican does make an array of cases in different sizes.

Great review of a great product.  Personally I’ve found myself to just need a simple case for my Phone and found iLoc to be a great product for my every day need.  The cases are under a buck and I use it for when I’m at the beach to keep sand out and when I’m out camping or hiking.  You can find it on ebay or at www.iLocstore.com.
