If you haven't researched carriers, plans, deals and how the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ compare you should hold off. 

Carrier coverage is completely changed from two years ago when you may have purchased your last phone. This means it might make sense to switch to AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon even if their coverage was bad last time you used them. Sprint is making bold claims, but if you don't live in a major city do local research before you switch. 

You should also factor in plans, which are different as well. There are new unlimited plans from all the major carriers and you might save by switching to an unlimited plan -- just make sure you know the limitations
