RIM Might Launch First QNX BlackBerry Smartphone in 2011

BlackBerry Colt MockupEarlier in the month, we learned that RIM’s first QNX smartphone might be called the BlackBerry Colt and that it would probably be launching at some point in the first quarter of 2011. Well, according to a new report from Tweakers.net, the Colt might be launching before 2011 ends.

Apparently, RIM is rushing to get the Colt out before the end of the year even though it has just launched an armada of BlackBerry OS 7 phones on a multitude of different U.S. carriers.

The phone is expected to feature a 4.3-inch display and a single-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor has a pretty heavy burden to carry. It’s expected to not only be RIM’s flagship smartphone but it will also usher in a new era of QNX-powered phones, software that RIM hopes will lead it back to the promise land.

It sounds like a very capable device and vastly different from RIM’s current offerings but I can’t help but think that rushing this thing out the door in order to try and compete is the right thing to do, even with RIM losing market share in the way that it is.

In any event, those of you who were thinking about picking up a BlackBerry 7 device may now have a reason to hold out until the end of the year.

I paid $23.88 for an i Pad 2 32-GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic

Lumiix GF 1 Camera that we got for $ 38.41 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I

will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I

also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 635 which only cost me $ 61.74 to

buy. Here is the website we use to get it al from,

Yeah single core, what a joke.  Quad core processors are coming out next year.  I feel sorry for people who want to wait and buy that phone.  I don’t see how this will help RIM out.  I guess there are still some hardcore crackberry users out there.
