Rugged Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Crashes onto AT&T

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is coming to AT&T this June where it will join the popular Galaxy S4, with many of the same features and a few more that parents, active users and those who work outside of an office will enjoy.

Samsung changes the Galaxy S4 Active from the Galaxy S4 that launched a month ago, offering a more rugged experience that is dust and water-resistant. This may not be a waterproof phone, but it can withstand up to 30 minutes in a meter of water, so it can easily handle rain and a quick dip in the pool.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is an AT&T exclusive in the U.S. and it will arrive on June 21st. The Galaxy S4 Active pre-orders start on June 14th and the phone is priced at $199. AT&T will offer the Active in Urban Gray and Dive Blue.

Samsung keeps the great looking screen from the Galaxy S4, which measures in at 5-inches with a 1080P HD resolution, and also packs in the IR port to control a TV. The camera is slightly downgraded to 8MP, but it does come with a water mode to help take better photos underwater, as well as the many Galaxy S4 photo modes.

The headphone jack is dust and water-resistant so there is no need to get a case or plug something in to the ports while going out in the rain or heading to the pool. The phone is also dust resistant to keep small particles out of important parts.

Samsung packs in a 1.9GHz quad-core processor which powers Android 4.2.2 with TouchWiz. The device features Air View like the Galaxy S4 as well as a screen that works with gloves on. The phone packs 16GB of storage and includes a Micro SD card. The Galaxy S4 Active can automatically pause video when you look away, and is capable of control by waving a hand over the device to answer a call or skip a song.
