Samsung Firmware Reveals Galaxy S4 Model Number and Mysterious GT-Q100 device

A Samsung firmware version for the Galaxy S3 Mini had revealed some interesting model numbers for some unannounced Galaxy smartphones, including the much hyped and anticipated Galaxy S4 flagship. According to Sam Mobile, the firmware reveales the model GT-I9505, GT-I9500, and a GT-Q1000 model.

It’s unclear what the GT-Q1000 model is, but it’s now believed that both the GT-I9505 and the GT-I9500 models will belong to the Galaxy S4 smartphones. Earlier, it was believed that the GT-I9500 number would belong to a Samsung-made Tizen smartphone, but Sam Mobile is now speculating that both the 9500 and 9505 model numbers will be variants of the Galaxy S4 Android flagship.

The current Galaxy S3 flagship bears the model number of GT-I9300. As the number 4 is considered unlucky, it’s believed that Samsung will make the jump from the 9300 series to the 9500 series for its next-generation flagship. Given that same logic, it’s unclear if Samsung would be calling this next-generation device the Galaxy S4 or if it will jump to Galaxy S5. Making the jump to Galaxy S5 and skipping the unlucky number 4 would also make the Galaxy S series appear to the average consumer to be on par with the current Apple iPhone, the iPhone 5, from a marketing perspective as well.

The GT-I9505 is now believed to have LTE on-board while the more pedestrian GT-I9500 will likely not have LTE.

The Galaxy S4 has been rumored for a February release at Mobile World Congress. A key aspect of the rumored phone is a full HD 1080p display to compete with rival models from HTC and others coming in 2013.

I just became eligible for an upgrade on sprint but the gs3 is now 7-8 months old and the note looks amazing but lacks fm radio and burst for its camera plus it’s 299 price tag doesn’t help what to do waiting for the sg4 is going to be hard
