Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Release Date in UK Confirmed

Published

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 release date has seemingly been confirmed in the United Kingdom, though a clear release date elsewhere in the world remains a mystery.

A tweet from Samsung Mobile UK from earlier today has confirmed the UK release date of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 ahead of its launch event on August 15th. Samsung says that the Galaxy Note 10.1 will become available just one day after the launch event as its set to hit the UK on August 16th.

Thus far, we haven’t seen any confirmation for a U.S. release date though we imagine that we’ll probably see something official arrive on August 15th. The launch event is slated to take place in the U.S. and it would be strange not to see a U.S. release date emerge at that event.

As of right now, it appears as though the device will only be available at the Westfield Brand Store in Stratford on August 16th. Samsung has not revealed other retailers, if any, will get the device on that day.

We should hear more from Samsung in the days ahead about the specifics for other retailers in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 will launch on August 16th in the UK.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was originally announced all the way back at Mobile World Congress in February of this year. Samsung though has taken time to release the device and in that time, has outfitted it with some new specifications including a quad-core processor.

It will include a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 10.1-inch WXGA (1280×768) display, a rear-facing 5MP camera, and a front-facing 1.9MP camera for video chatting.

The lack of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is a little disconcerting but we imagine Samsung will be working hard to get the device updated in the near future.

And like the Galaxy Note smartphone, the Galaxy Note 10.1 has the special S Pen stylus that allows owners to draw and take notes directly on the screen.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 also possesses a unique feature which will allow users to view two apps side-by-side. Samsung calls it Multiscreen.

Unfortunately, Samsung will be launching the Wi-Fi model first and the 4G LTE variants will arrive at some point down the road, although Samsung hasn’t been clear on exactly when to expect them.

We should learn more on August 15th.
