Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Eluding U.S. Users

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update roll out continues though the software is still widely unavailable in the United States as carriers continue to miss their rumored release dates leaving Galaxy Note 2 users wondering when they will get their upgrade to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Galaxy Gear support.

Last month, Samsung began rolling out the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, an update that was announced back in October, and one that already rolled out for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update release is far from over as users on several carriers are still awaiting their update to Android 4.3.

However, the update is making progress as the roll out continues north of the United States, in Canada, where it has reportedly hit two more Galaxy Note 2 variants on smaller carriers. Mobilicity and Videotron are smaller Canadian carriers and they follow in the footsteps of carriers like WIND which have already deployed their Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates.

Unfortunately, the roll out continues to elude customers in the United States as rumored dates have come and gone without any type of a roll out. Thanks to a leaked update schedule for U.S. devices, one that accurately predicted several software updates, many believed that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update would be completed in the United States today.

Today was supposed to be the last major upgrade for the Galaxy Note 2 with T-Mobile rumored to be pushing out the software to its users. Thus far, that has not happened and it could be that the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 misses its supposed release date, just like the other Galaxy Note 2 variants in the United States.

So far, the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 is the only major device to get the software upgrade. The models on AT&T, U.S. Cellular T-Mobile and Verizon are still on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. We’ve seen evidence that suggests that the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 update is close and we’ve heard a rumor that it may roll out this week. That remains unconfirmed, as do the other Galaxy Note 2 upgrades.

When the updates do arrive, they will bring Samsung KNOX, Galaxy Gear support and several enhancements to Galaxy Note 2 users. But right now, it’s not a matter of what, it’s simply a matter of when and carriers remain silent on the prospects.

Android 4.4 KitKat is rumored for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, however, with these updates arriving so late, it could be that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update in the United States is far off in the distance.

I don’t see how Samsung is at fault here. Carriers must do there job.

I have gnote2 without carrier contract and still no sign of the 4.3 update. The update fails massage I get when I change the date to 12.24.2013.
Also 4.3 isn’t given in favour but just to make the gear works.
In the future chances of 4.4 to be delayed after March 2014 are high due to GS5 sales.

With or without contract, you still have a carrier and still get your updates from them.

So if you were on Sprint and had already received the 4.3 update on your Note II, you would love Samsung Phones??? Good luck with HTC, Nokia, or Googorola!

I knew Verizon wouldn’t hit the date they very rarely if ever do. There always the last bc they suck.

No kidding. And their god-awful bloatware that nobody wants is always stuck on the system, their refusal to allow payment systems because they can’t be troll on the bridge.

Frankly, done with all of them. But Verizon has just about lost me with their suck in the new clients but forget about the existing ones who spent a fat $ to get the more advanced phone. I’ve learned on that one.

I don’t care about the roadmap dates I knew it wouldn’t be updated when it was rumored they would what bothers me is I have had this phone for over a year and never received a major android update yet and I’ve seen 3 new versions of android…its getting ridiculous

Exactly. Likely. Here I thought paying over the top for a very advanced phone might get me somewhere with updates vs. motorcrapolo. So much for treating existing customers with update respect.

Motorola is doing a damn good job at updating their phones. The moto x already has kit kat. The same can not be said for any of Samsungs phones.

US Cellular is rolling out 4.3. I update my s3 and note 2 already and no issues. It was suggested that you clear the cache partition in dev mode also.

I have sprint and I have been waiting and waiting for the 4.3 update to no avail. I don’t know why they keep saying sprint has the update for the Note 2. I have the Note 2 and I check everyday for the update. It is very disappointing.

The speed which samsung is releasing their rollouts is embarassingly slow.. compared to the likes of apple.. and i’m a note 2 user here. And from what i’ve seen in the benchmark tests. There aren’t a lot of improvements anyhow
