Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Heading to AT&T?

Published

on

While we have suspected that the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be headed to AT&T, no evidence popped up to support such a claim. That may have changed today as a GLBenchmark popped up for a device that looks to be a Galaxy Note 2 variant headed to AT&T’s network.

Phandroid discovered a new benchmark for a device called the SGH-i317 which shares a similar model number to the Galaxy Note 2 and some similar specifications as well.

The benchmark lists 1280 x 720 screen resolution, same found on the Galaxy Note 2, a reference to the device’s Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system which is the same OS found on the Galaxy Note 2, and a 1.6GHz processor. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 uses a quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.6GHz.

Is this AT&T’s Galaxy Note 2?

We also see AT&T’s name listed in the benchmarks along with LTE.

There is one thing off however and that’s the model number. The original Galaxy Note was SGH-i717 so it’s a bit strange that this device has a lower model number than the original.

It’s possible that this is also another Galaxy-branded device though we know of no other Galaxy devices with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a HD display headed to AT&T at this point.

The Galaxy Note 2 could be headed to AT&T.

That means that at this point, it very well could be the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, a device that the company launched last month in Berlin, Germany and a device that will be heading to the United States sometime this year.

Samsung did not confirm the device for any U.S. carriers at the event which means that interested consumers are going to have to wait for confirmation, something that could take weeks or months.

AT&T was the original carrier of the first Galaxy Note which makes it a likely candidate for the Galaxy Note 2.

Hopefully, we see some more evidence about this mysterious device surface soon.

Stupid, Samsung wants to use this phone against the new iPhone and to gain more market share. Over 10 million galaxy 3 sold, avail on major networks, yet the new note is going only t art, and t keep it there for over a year, and t let it come to T-Mobile for only a few weeks i a so ridiculous, Samsung should also be found guilty of stupidy, and lack any business skills. Go iPhone.

Will this be sold in the USA and which of Samsung’s smartphones are banned? The galaxy is a nice looking phone thats why millions of them have been sold. But Samsung should be careful

It will be sold in the US.(Possibly released in early Oct.) Although the Galaxy Note 2 is a good looking phone, I am interested in its hardware and OS. Ive had all versions of the iPhone. iPhone is a well built phone with a very refined / user friendly OS. The reason I’m switching is for the following reasons. 1) No itunes 2) External memory 3) Large viewable screen 4) Windows compatibility 5) Ability to use 3rd party software w/o the need for Apples strict (selfish) approval. . I hope GS3 and Note 2 are not banned. Why doesn’t Apple just sue all wireless communications companies and get it over with. I’m sure they can buy (I mean find) a judge that will rule in their favor:) Keep it up Samsung / Google!

My prediction, Apple will be approx. half it’s size as it is today. People will realize that Apple doesn’t want completion which leads to strive for better products. Go Samsung! Bring on the Note 2 AT&T !!!
