Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Price in U.S. Pegged at $300

Published

on

Earlier today, Samsung made the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 official for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and U.S. Cellular and while many of the details remain unknown, we do know that the device will likely arrive on these carriers in late October for $299.99.

U.S. Cellular confirmed earlier today that its device would be hitting shelves at some point in October for $299.99 on-contract. The carrier has even begun taking pre-orders for the device ahead of its release date.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon did not confirm any specifics as far as the Galaxy Note 2 is concerned but we don’t see them completely undercutting U.S. Cellular in terms of price, they didn’t do that with the Galaxy S III. After all, they will all be launching similar Galaxy Note 2’s.

We also don’t see them launching the Galaxy Note 2 too long after the regional carrier, if at all, so it’s safe to assume that all four of them will launch the Galaxy Note 2 around the same time for $299.99 on contract.

The Galaxy Note 2 will likely cost $299.99 across the board.

That of course is the same price that the original Galaxy Note launched for on AT&T earlier this year.

Unfortunately, that price may be a little steep for some of those that were looking to get their hands on Samsung’s new 4G LTE, quad-core powered 5.5-inch phablet. And with devices like the iPhone 5 checking in with cheaper price tags, many could pass on the Note 2 if it’s this expensive across the board.

Additionally, with that steep of an on-contract price tag, we’ll be interested to see how much carriers charge for it off-contract, especially Verizon. That’s because Verizon requires owners of unlimited data plans to buy phones off-contract to keep that unlimited data plan.

Fortunately, at least prospective Galaxy Note 2 buyers will have options as the five largest U.S. service providers will be carrying the Galaxy Note 2 in the future.

That’s quite an upgrade over the original Galaxy Note which was only available on AT&T at the start and quickly fizzled at T-Mobile.

I was really looking forward to this phone and the magic S-pen, but I may walk away at this price. If I can get the LG Intuition for $100 less, I may go that route. It breaks my heart a bit, though.

I agree, I was looking forward to the Note 2 but NOT at that price WITH a 2 year contract, no way… Looks like the LG for me.

The iPhone 5 is $199, $299, and $399 on Verizon Wireless’s site (and on At&T). The GSIII is $249. My >1 yr old Droid Charge was $199 in 2011. My original Droid was $199 (but had a rebate) in 2009. The Original Note on At&T is $199. How is $299 just some crazy insane price for a QUAD core phone with a stylus and these specs? Especially when all phones are most expensive when first released. Wait 1-2 months and get it on Amazon or on sale.

Exactly Rex_D, my thoughts as well. If you want a top of the line phone, you’re going to pay a little more for it. This will be the best selling phone in 2012 and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! Come on T-Mobile!

Yea the s3 is a top line phone and theres choices….16 or 32 $199 or $249…so i guess were paying more for the additional screen size….why $299 For a 16gi…who cares about a quad core processor…put that next to the s3 dual core and its the same. Quadrant is bullcrap…$299 is bullcrap as well…

I am looking forward to it. I am going from the iPhone! I am disappointed that the iPhone 5 screen isn’t bigger than it is. I love the screen on the note 2. It’s going to be worth every penny so I can have the screen I want!!

$299 is a great price compared to $199 for a Galaxy S3 plus another $249 for a 16GB Nexus 7 tablet. Looks like I’ll be saving $149! Also the Note 2 is ONLY $50 since I had already budgeted the $249 for a tablet. AND….I dont have to lug around/charge/sync/risk losing two devices. Sounds like a dream come true.

Price is a little bit steep, but that’s why you save a little here and there on each check in order to get the things you want. I’ve been with AT&T forever and my unlimited plan has been grandfathered in so the contract part doesn’t bother me. I currently have the iPhone 4 and I can’t wait to make the switch to a bigger screen! Im just debating which case I should put it in. I’ve always used the otterbox because I’m a protection freak, but since the note is so huge I might leave it naked and only add a screen protector, hmmm… Decisions decisions…

All cell phones with those specs are expensive. I think it might be $249. It may also be worth it.That simple iPhone 5 can go as high as $399. At least you will get chart you pay for with the note 2.

Does anyone care to take a stab at what they think the price will be if you are in the middle of your contract. So, the “full price” price. I hate that they make you wait, if you keep signing the contract, and you pay the “contract price” how is the company really losing? No matter when you “date is up” anyway…enought “quotes” anyone have any idea of the cost to just go ahead and upgrade while in the middle of your contract??

I’ve been with Sprint for appx. 10 yrs. My upgrade is effective on Mon 10/1/12. I was just going to go with the SGS3, But I was doing some research on some of the newest phones coming to Sprint (as I always do before I make decision on which phone I want) since I’ll have to sorta be “stuck” with this new device for 2 yrs. I’m am very impressed with the SGN2 specs, size, & most important the software. I CAN NOT wait to get my hands on this device !! Maybe it’s me but, $300 is not that expensive for a device of this magnitude. My cut off point was $500 so as long as I can get it for under “my” price cap with my upgrade, I’ll be SUPER happy :)
