Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. Release Date by Carrier

Published

on

Slowly but surely, we are getting information about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. release date and pricing across the five carriers that the 5.5-inch phablet will be coming to. And while not every detail is known just yet, we wanted to roundup everything there is to know about the Galaxy Note 2’s release date and pricing in the United States, all in one place.

Update: Galaxy Note II Review

Thus far, the Galaxy Note 2 launch in the United States has been a jumbled mess. A few weeks back, Samsung announced a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 event set for October 24th in New York City where we believed that we would hear about all of the Galaxy Note 2 launch details in the United States. However, many of the details have emerged through both official and unofficial means ahead of the event while other details still remain in the dark.

The Galaxy Note 2 will be hitting the U.S. soon.

And while we should get all of the concrete details regarding the Galaxy Note 2’s launch on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon tomorrow at the launch event featuring Kanye West, there is quite a bit of information out there already.

So here is everything we know about the release date and pricing for Samsung’s upcoming 5.5-inch sporting, quad-core processor toting, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rocking, 4G LTE phablet.

AT&T Galaxy Note 2

AT&T, after much speculation, announced today that it will be offering the Galaxy Note 2 for $299.99 starting October 25th. October 25th unfortunately isn’t the release date for the Galaxy Note 2 on AT&T however. Instead, it’s the start of what will be a lengthy pre-order.

The carrier won’t be releasing the Galaxy Note 2 until November 9th at which point it should be available to buy both online and through retail stores. Demand for the phone should be high so those looking to pick one up on release day will want to place a pre-order.

Once the device is released, it will run on AT&T’s 4G LTE network.

Sprint Galaxy Note 2

Like AT&T, Sprint has announced a concrete release date for the Galaxy Note 2 and it will be releasing it much earlier with October 25th pegged as its official release date. The carrier will also be offering the device for $299.99 on-contract and it will also allow the Galaxy Note 2 to run on its 4G LTE network.

Sprint though is lagging behind AT&T and Verizon when it comes to available 4G LTE markets so you’ll want to see if the service is available or upcoming before settling on this version of the Galaxy Note 2.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2

T-Mobile has released the Galaxy Note 2 ahead of other carriers and it’s currently available through its website for $369.99. Third-party retailer Wirefly is now offering up the Galaxy Note 2 for a much cheaper price, $279.99 on-contract.

That price is way steeper than most expected on T-Mobile and the carrier may have a tough time convincing folks to pick up its device considering it doesn’t have a 4G LTE network quite yet.

U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 2

The U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 2 has been up for pre-order since September with a price of $299.99. All along, the regional carrier has said that it would ship the device out by the end of October and at this point, there is no reason not to believe it, even though it hasn’t sent out a release date.

U.S. Cellular is a regional carrier and thus, it won’t have as many 4G LTE locations available for those looking to take full advantage of the Galaxy Note 2.

Verizon Galaxy Note 2

Finally, the Verizon Galaxy Note 2, the most elusive of the bunch. Verizon typically plays its release date and pricing close to its chest and unfortunately, the Galaxy Note 2 release is no different.

Thus far, we’ve seen nothing in regards to its release date or price though we expect it to announce the device for $299.99 on-contract with a release date no later than mid-November. At this point though, the carrier is mum on any specifics.

One thing we do know is that it will be running on the nation’s largest 4G LTE network and one that features over 400 markets in the United States.

I hope Verizon played this close for the right reasons and we get our devices Wednesday or Thursday. My phone took a turn for the worse and I have been eyeing this phone for a long time. Samsung sayed that Verizon had placed there orders over a month ago so it’s not unlikely that the phones will be in stores this week. Verizon also said that ” We can’t say much because the device hasn’t been released yet, but our gn2 screen protectors have were shipped to stores today (Monday) and that typically means a release is coming extremely soon”. Our beast of a phone is coming to a beast of a network in a few short days.

I’m with verizon and am tired of waiting, and I’m not paying that 30$ upgrade fee, I’m already going to lose my unlimited data. The only cell service half decent and 4g everywhere in my area is verizon, but I’m moving early next year, and I’m making sure I’m near a tower and great location for fast internet. I’m getting this note 2 but it may be my last phone with verizon if att comes through on their 4g they’d supposed to be better in the year or two

At&t has a higher upgrade fee than verizon does… just fyi… at&t also no longer offers unlimited.

The trick is this. We’re all here talking about Verizon, that means were all with Verizon, that means they have us by the balls. End of story, it’s up to them to make us happy or we will find a company that actually cares. AT&T sucks, service and customer service sprint has about as crappy a network as t mobile and well… T mobile is t mobile. The only real choice is to wait. It’s coming and that’s not here say, it’s fact. So I guess we’re just stuck with there piss poor ability to treat customers they way we should be treated and bring competitive devices to the market. What’s the use in having the best network if all your phones are second rate… Anyone get a gander at the LG Phablet? We all heard about it and cringed thinking it was Verizon’s competitor device for the gn2. Truth be told it was, that all changed with a load of complaints and a laughable device from LG. good luck to those that wait for the nexus, LG hasn’t made a decent smartphone to date, HTC makes products that look great but have a 40% fail rate within 12 months, Motorola makes great phones spec wise and destroys them with crap displays and a wonk GUI, Samsung makes the best products but puts them in a 25 cent plastic body, apple makes amazing hardware but is 5 years behind in specs and OS. Everyone needs to step up there game and Verizon needs to weed out the week phones and stick to the best in class. Blackberry is dead…. That is all

      Well put!!

I’m with Verizon too, but but just so dang happy they will finally offer this phone, and as you can see…. I’m counting the minutes for 10/24 to arrive…. I actually like my razr maxx, and which I brokedown and got after clinging to my treo 700w forever and the next day the note hit at&t and I about died. so finally iI get a chance to get the phone I’ve waited for someone to design, then for Verizon to agree to carry.. I’m just to happy about it to be frustrated, and but I’ve been waiting YEARS for this to happen!!!!!

Everytime I ask Verizon when will they get the sn2 they say we’re not getting it or we probably won’t get it because we weren’t trained on it or I don’t know. They’re such liars and I think they do that crap so people will keep buying phones as opposed to waiting for the phone we want. If people wait, they’re losing money. It’s a real pisser. I want that phone too.

    • Infrnl

      10/23/2012 at 9:18 pm

@Reginia: as we all know every sales associate in any industry is taught to sell what we have today and not what’s coming.

I also o not know why everyone always crystal and threatens to go elsewhere. Att and Verizon will be the last to release and everyone will release within a wk or so of each other. If you can’t wait then you have bigger issues. A late release will not hurt their sales or bank acct.

I currently have att but I’m not sure if I want to stay or try verizon. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Att will have faster lte but Verizon has lte now and more markets. Verizon is supposed to have full lte everywhere they have 3G by the end of 2013 from what I have read. It’s a toss up of which carrier wold be best to go with.

      Happy waiting to everyone

        11/07/2012 at 8:49 am

Who told you that AT&T will have faster LTE? Lol not true!! Also… Verizon’s LTE coverage will be far superior to ATT even after build out is complete. I worked for Att for 6 years and verizon for 5. Now i build towers and upgrade sites to lte for both companies and assure you that the two companies lte coverage are not even comparable nor will they be. On a side note, it is laughable to see att commercials where they are touting 10x more 4g coverage then vzw… lol. That statement is true, but really att. The 4g they are touting is not lte, in fact it is barely faster then vzw’s 3g. Verizon has chose to stay classy this time around and has just ignored att’s desperate attempt to fool America into believing that their coverage is better then big red’s… lmaorofllolololol. To all you verizon haters… I agree, they are far from perfect and have a ton of issues but no one else is better… not even close!!

Can’t wait for this phone I have Verizon does anyone know how to get around losing my unlimited Data, makes me sick I have to pay 30 dollars to upgrade just to lose my data

    • DP

      11/05/2012 at 9:26 am

You have to pay full price for phone to keep unlimited data.

    • Jr

      11/06/2012 at 2:00 pm

upgrade a line that does not have unlimited if you have one, then transfer the phone to your unlimited line 24 hours later, its the only way to get the subsidized price other than paying retail, this is from a verizon rep i spoke to before I placed my order

      • Joe

        11/06/2012 at 3:22 pm

Is 299 the retail price or price with upgrade

Sigh. About to lose my unlimited data and I have no idea how much data I use in a month to judge which plan I should purchase.

The world is so greedy. I just want everything to be how I want it to be and to keep my money.

Very interesting article. Jut acquired a new Galaxy NOTE II, and find it marvellous. It definitely outshines iPhone 5. It is a pity I renewed my UK mobile number contract and got iPhone 5 but hardly use it when in France. The NOTE II on my French number outstrips anything that iPhone 5 does or can do.

Just convinced my friend and she acquired NOTE II yesterday, identical to mine – white with the lovely flip cover !!! https://gadgetbuzz.in/mobile/samsung-galaxy-note-2-smartphone/

Good review. I have had mine for a month and am loving all the features and 4G speed. I leave it on for wifi search and the battery lasts and lasts. My wife takes it for Sudoku and jewels when she can get me to let go of it and she uses the stylus every time. It replaced a Droid 3 with a slider keyboard and I use my voice and swipe typing without a hiccup.
