Galaxy Note 5 rumors have been rampant as of late, teasing prospective buyers with tales about the Galaxy Note 5 specs, Galaxy Note 5 launch date, and Galaxy Note 5 release. Rumors continue to fly around ahead of Samsung’s inevitable announcement and today, a series of new Galaxy Note 5 release details have emerged.

With those details in mind, we want to take a look at everything we know about Samsung and everything we know about the Galaxy Note 5 release.

What We Know About Samsung

First, let’s lay some groundwork and tell you what we know about Samsung and its Galaxy Note releases.

The past five Galaxy Note models have all arrived at IFA, a yearly trade show that takes place in Berlin, Germany. The Galaxy Note 5 launch date has, unsurprisingly, been rumored for IFA 2015 which is set to kick off on September 4th. That could still happen though a new report claims that we could see the Galaxy Note 5 arrive much sooner than that.

If Samsung does launch early, it will likely have to use its own separate Unpacked launch event. Last year, the company shifted back to using major events as the backdrop for their big announcements and this year, Samsung used Mobile World Congress 2015 to announce the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

An early launch would likely require Samsung to branch out on its own again.

First Galaxy Note Release Rumor

One of the earliest Galaxy Note 5 rumors focused on the device’s release date.

Note-5-4

The report, from Korean publication Daum, states the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date could land in August. If true, this would be much earlier than the Galaxy Note 4 release date. Samsung released the Galaxy Note 4 in late September after a launch at IFA earlier in the month. The Galaxy Note 4 didn’t hit the United States until October.

It’s important to note that the publication claimed that Samsung would release the Galaxy S6 in March. The Samsung Galaxy S6 arrived on March 1st at MWC. It was released a few weeks later on April 10th. The Galaxy S6 release date didn’t land in March. Instead, it landed on April 10th.

Early Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

A new report from Korean outlet WhoWired Korea is making the rounds today and it outlines some potential Galaxy Note 5 details.

The publication claims that Samsung will expedite the Galaxy Note 5 and that the Galaxy Note 5 release date will land in late July, much earlier than the start of IFA 2015 in September.

Note-5-7

According to the report, the company plans to finalize the Galaxy Note 5 in June and start taking pre-orders ahead of an arrival in late July. The publication claims that the launch will coincide with the arrival of Samsung Pay, Samsung’s Apple Pay competitor that was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

If true, and it could be, this would be the earliest Galaxy Note 5 launch ever.

iPhone 6s Release Date

The report cites the iPhone as the Galaxy Note’s biggest threat and a reason for the shift. Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus features a 5.5-inch display and it has engaged the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge in a fierce battle since September.

This year, Apple is expected to have two new iPhone 6s models up its sleeve including a 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone 6s Plus is rumored to have a number of big time features including a new camera, improved display, a fortified design, and a new processor.

iPhone 6s Rumors - 13

iPhone 6s rumors have failed to establish a concrete release date though the iPhone 6s release date rumors that we have seen point to an arrival in a familiar window.

iPhone 6s release rumors have pointed to an arrival in August or September, right around the time that Samsung typically releases its Galaxy Note series. Last year, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were announced about a week after the Galaxy Note 4 made its debut.

With Apple boasting record iPhone sales, Samsung could opt to launch and release the Galaxy Note 5 early to get a head start on Apple and the iPhone 6s release.

Galaxy Note Edge 2 & Gear A

Galaxy Note 5 release rumors have also pointed to the arrival of at least two new products, a Galaxy Note Edge 2 and a new smartwatch called the Gear A.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note Edge 2 will supposedly launch alongside the Galaxy Note 5 though it’s not expected to include the same specs. Galaxy Note Edge 2 specs are said to include a 5.4-inch to 5.5-inch dual-edge curved display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm, 16GB of internal storage, a 16MP rear camera with OIS, and an 8MP front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge 2 is reportedly heading to the United States, Korea and Europe at the very least. Here’s a rundown of the Galaxy Note Edge 2 carriers.

  • Galaxy Note Edge 2 – SM-G928A NA ATT
  • Galaxy Note Edge 2 – SM-G928S KOR SKC
  • Galaxy Note Edge 2 – SM-G928F EUR XX
  • Galaxy Note Edge 2 – SM-G928V NA VZW

Finally, it looks like Samsung will launch a new Apple Watch competitor alongside the Galaxy Note 5.

In the buildup to MWC 2015, rumors suggested that Samsung would announce a new round smartwatch to compete with the Apple Watch. That announcement didn’t happen and now signs point to an arrival at the Note 5 launch event. Samsung’s well known for announcing wearables alongside its flagship smartphones at Unpacked events.

The device is reportedly codenamed “Orbis” and it will come with a rotating bezel ring among other features. By the time it arrives though, the Apple Watch will have been on shelves for a number of months.
