U.S. Galaxy Note Edge Release Takes Big Step

Published

on

The U.S. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date took another huge step today as another U.S. bound variant has passed the FCC ahead of its release. One Galaxy Note Edge release still remains missing in action though as carriers prep for its arrival later this year.

Back in September, Samsung took to the stage at Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 to announce a number of new products. While the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 took most of the spotlight, Samsung also announced its new Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, a device that shares many of the Galaxy Note 4′s features but comes with a curved display.

During the event, Samsung detailed the Galaxy Note Edge specs and it also released vague details about the Galaxy Note Edge release date. Over the past two months we’ve finally seen concrete Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date details emerge in specific countries and we’ve also finally got a clear gauge on the elusive Galaxy Note Edge price.

Last week, the Galaxy Note Edge went on sale in the United States for the first time. AT&T currently has the device in select stores and it’s taking Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders ahead of a November 14th release date that’s expected to include T-Mobile and Sprint. The Galaxy Note Edge release will also feature U.S. Cellular and Verizon though neither carrier has confirmed specific details.

Today, we finally saw one of these variants take a big step in the right direction. The U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note Edge release date is getting closer now that its passed thru the FCC’s clutches. We’ve spotted the device, known as the SM-N915R4, gaining necessary clearance ahead of its arrival and it should only be a matter of time before U.S. Cellular reveals its Galaxy Note Edge release date and its Galaxy Note Edge price.

This leaves the Verizon Galaxy Note Edge as the only U.S. bound model yet to cross the FCC. The Verizon Galaxy Note Edge did receive its certification from the GCF but FCC certification is required before the device can be announced or hit shelves. It’s not clear when this will happen though with four other release dates close, it should only be a matter of time.

The U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date is important but it’s not the only Galaxy Note Edge release that Samsung has up its sleeve and yesterday, we saw a number of other Galaxy Note Edge release date details emerge.

A new list of Galaxy Note Edge release countries runs down some regions that are already confirmed to be getting the Galaxy Note Edge. The list includes the United Kingdom, Russia, India, and Australia. All of these countries were confirmed several weeks ago. The new information also details a number of new countries that are expected to get the Galaxy Note Edge down the line.

Denmark, Kazakhstan, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, France, Nordic countries, Austria and Portugal will all be getting the Galaxy Note Edge at some point in the future as will Singapore and Nepal. China and Canada were not listed though both are also expected to get the Galaxy Note Edge with Canada slated to get it sometime in 2015.

It appears that Denmark will get the Galaxy Note Edge on December 12th, or, several weeks after the U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release. It’s not clear if these other countries will cluster around Denmark’s date or if they will get the device at a later date. As expected, the Galaxy Note Edge price will be in and around €899, a steep price for consumers in Europe. In the U.S., the Galaxy Note Edge will cost $399 on-contract and more than $800 off-contract.

AT&T will be releasing the Edge on Nov 18th (per AT&T Rep whom I think wasn’t supposed to say anything since they never do). I was able to check one out in store yesterday and I must admit it is a VERY nice AND cool looking device. It goes for $100 more than the Note 4. Not sure if it’s worth that much more but it definitely has me thinking about it. It’s pretty slick. I do think that everyone will need to put it in their hands as some may not like the whole screen on the side thing, especially left handers supposedly. I found that less of an issue than I thought it would be. I have no idea how much of an advantage it will be having the edge screen but it gets 10’s for cool factor. SO much better than the blah blah iPhone 6.
