Published

on

Back at CES 2012, Samsung and T-Mobile announced a device called the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G. And then, they announced it again a few weeks later, revealing just a little bit more about the upcoming smartphone. They didn’t, however, announce a release date for the device. That is, until today, when the carrier revealed that its next HSPA+ Galaxy S device will be hitting shelves on March 21st.

Yes, the release date is finally set in stone and select T-Mobile retail stores around the country are going to have the device available for purchase in just a few weeks.

It won’t be available online on that date though.

Instead, the carrier is going with a staggered launch and the Galaxy S Blaze 4G will become available on March 28th online.

As for pricing, the Galaxy S Blaze 4G is expected to cost $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate card, a price that will come after signing a new two year contract with good old Magenta.

Now, what’s to like about the Galaxy S 4G Blaze?

Well, first and foremost, it’s going to be running on T-Mobile’s fastest network, HSPA+ 42.

The 42 in the name refers to the maximum about of bytes per second that devices on the network can pull down.

T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42 network isn’t available everywhere in the United States. In fact, it’s only available in 175 or so markets around the country so you’ll want to make sure that it’s live in your area before you snag a Galaxy S Blaze 4G.

The Galaxy S Blaze 4G features a 3.97-inch Super AMOLED display, a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera that’s capable of 720p HD video recording, and a a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

For more information on it, head to T-Mobile’s website.
